In any case, the right to bear arms is as part of a well-organised militia, not quite Dirty Harry...
When the ACLU support the right of the KKK to put burning crosses on a black man's lawn (as happened a few years back) because it would otherwise infringe their constitutional right to free speech (ha!), their is something wrong with the interpretation of the constitution.
Nothing wrong with a written constitution, until you let lawyers at it for two centuries.
We manage pretty well without one and we have no right to bear arms at all. In fact, seeing armed Police is a bit shocking over here.
I just don't get the way positions are taken in the US, right wing = no abortion, lots of guns - don't kill 'em in the womb, wait until they are out and then shoot 'em???
Weird,
I guess we will never understand you guys fully. Lucky you are Ok at VB though.
Cheers all.
Paul.

It's not the guns, it's the bazookas. No kidding, the BIG
battle right now is whether or not to defend the right to
own anti-armour (tanks, armoured personnell carriers,
helicopter....) weapons. Like bazookas, LAW, 50MM machine
guns, Uzi assault weapons, hand grenades, .....
All, of course, necessary to dine on Bambi.

I understand your point about guns and how it would be better without them. But where i live..i think it would be better if people were allowed to carry them
I cant count how many people i know that have been robbed or killed by guns... (i am not saying that having everyone carry guns is the ultimate solution) and i know that adding to the problem wont help, but i do believe that if everyone was allowed to carry a gun, there woould be less violence.
People here are just waiting for a reson to snap... all they need is one good reason to kill.Maybe not guns.. but if the govt. poured more money into education..pepple would have more sense than to kill each other. But then we would be taking away the politicans money too build that giant condo in the bahamas ;)
oh well.

citizens are not allowed to own DD(destructive devices) without a special permit that takes forever to get...
and it's .50" not 50mm
Those are kind of being ignored right now , because of the assult weapons(AK-47's, AR15's, Etc)
but they were thinking of banning them from citizens a few months ago, when this guy went psycho and blew the living **** out of his wife and a few people at the supermarket,
they said the bullet went through a manhole cover....

All right already!
Please...check your facts.
Money for education:
The money for education at the kindergarten through high school level is legislated on the State level NOT the Federal level. There are more Republican Governors in the United States than Democratic Governors. Therefore, your statement regarding education and the current Clinton administration is invalid.

Yeah, what she said!!!

barrk......go girl!
Dennis
If you ever wanted to see how the rest of the world views Americas insane gun laws get a copy of "The Killing of America" on VHS and watch it....just crazy.
We had our gun debate over here after this bloke went mental and shot twenty or so people in Tasmania...lead to the ban on individual ownership of high powered rifles...handguns are already banned.
The rednecks up Queensland way got excited by it all, and started an add campaign saying it was our constitutional right to own guns. The US NRA poured money into the campaign.
Two problems here bro:
1. What the flock has it got to do with the American NRA what the gun laws are in Australia.
2. No where in the Australian Constitution does it state that citizens have the right to own guns.

Hey Gore is making a comeback in the Florida polls. Go big guy.........

I think when DerFarm said 50mm, he meant 50mm, not .50". He's talking about anti-armour weaponry.
Incidentally, DerFarm, I'm shocked! You spelt 'armour' with a 'u'! What's going on?
