READ.. read read read read read.. read to her as often as possible.
it is amazing how fast and how smart they get as they grow.... my son (who we read to at least once a day) has just finished first grade, but his skill levels are all 3rd grade and above. reading, writing, etc... :D
second, as far as a "blanky" goes.. get something replacable... we actually used cotton diapers... and got lots of them at once. so if one disappears.. u have many others to replace it with :) it will help to avoid that moment in the future when the "blanky" gets left somewhere.. and she has a nuclear meltdown lol... no problem, just grab another one! (They are also good for putting on your sholder while burping ;) less shirts get ruined then)
dont wait to long to switch from bottle to sippy cup. id say @ ten months, introduce her to it.. the longer you wait, the hard it is to switch. my brothers daughter would NOT go to sleep without her bottle.. and that was at 2 and 1/2!
VCR's.. you most likely dont have one, but just in case, stuff fits nicely into the tape slot... sandwiches. .etc.. lol
do u have a "Diaper Genie"? best invention ever.. makes sausage links with the dirty diapers....

About your VCR, I really understand what you say, the Son of my Boss, have manage to fit 9 CD/DVD into a unopened DVD player :eek2: and he also have manage to fit many coin into the he's car Tape Deck witch do not work any more :(
Every child are different, there learning curve and habit are all different
But for now many person that I talk to about my daughter , tell me that I'll do a really good father.
The most important thing I think, is to have as much quality time with her as possible
