I've had it on my Jump Drive for a while now. I also have a few Fx extensions on there. And SpyBot Search and Destroy and iTunes and any other good software that people generally don't have.Quote:

I thought IE is the cult. It has crashed a lot of systems. I've never heard Firefox to crash a system :D
Never had a problem with Firefox and frankly I just don't trust IE with all of its security problems.
IE 7 Beta 2 is released and apparently (heard from a secuirity tester) it introduces 100s more holes with it. Go MS :DQuote:

They're actually trying to make IE7 better overall, but they might run out of time for all the features. They won't certainly be as goods with the standards as other browsers are at the moment and security is a question mark, even though that was the biggest promise they made when they announced IE7 is in the works. It might be the most important security features are in Vista and won't be available in XP...
I had the idea of adding a Fx download counter to my sig, but all the ones I found that would work, either the links were broken, or they looked like crap. If anyone finds a decent, small, server-side download counter that I can put in my sig, post it :)
That's the problem with M$. They are too interested in PR and money. Users would be quite happy to wait an extra 2 months if it meant IE7 would be much more secure. Look at half-life 2, it was delayed for a year but the gamers didn't mind because it was delayed for the right reasonsQuote:

Awesome, thanks tr333! :thumb: :D
I will try out the Protable Fx on my USB drive then :)
Read a few reviews for IE7 Beta 1, pretty luke warm. Most are quite critical of the security updates as 75% of the security updates either don't work (bearing in mind this is still Beta 1) or they will only apply for the new Windows Vista (formerly Longhorn).
Good old M$, still forcing you to buy their newest product.
:( I havent managed to convert anyone yet :(
But I have it as my sig at another forum :D
I have a 1gig jump drive (USB drive) so I am not worried about space. ;)Quote:

My 30 gig USB drive comes in ten hours ^^
 You wish! I want a USB drive that functions as an independent computer that I can just plug in and run programs and such directly off it. That would be nice. :)
I hate you :(Quote:

Oh crap I just noticed yours
Is that a hard drive within a USB enclosure, or all built in?
Flash memory is very expensive, compared to traditional hard drives.
Yeah, it is USB pluggable and fully portable, doesn't even require external power supply like some other drives. Lets see... this is what it looks like. It is quite small, I guess they use a 1.8" or 2.5" harddrive (I don't have it in my hands yet so I can't tell). So if the harddrive breaks down after warranty, I guess I can switch a new drive in.
Oh a Lacie. We have one of them and it's been very good. Bit expensive though. For the second external drive I got an enclosure separately (Firewire + USB2) and stuck a hard drive in. Came to less all up than the Lacie.
Hmm, is Firewire faster than USB2? Never actually paid any attention to it. I have firewire support in my case and motherboard, but I haven't plugged the cable so the front panel connection doesn't work.
Theoretically, no (400 Mb/s vs. 480 Mb/s), however in practice, definitely so. USB2 never gets anywhere near its limit, whereas Firewire does. If you want to compare, and your enclosure supports FW, just try copying a large file over, both ways, on both connections. For me, FW's always been faster.Quote:

Nah, will see if I'll ever bother doing it. Doesn't really matter all that much as I'll only be the secondary user for it, my sister needs it to transfer files between her computer and my computer, she has a real slow connection and can't download any bigger file. Some kind of restriction to P2P software... ;)
(Don't quote me on this)... It should be, because Firewire is hotpluggable... so I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to. But, if it blows up, it's not my fault ;) :DQuote:

You've must got some serious brain damage doing that :D Humm, well, the case is all too tiny so my hand doesn't fit in. I'm kind of forced to rip everything out before I can plug any cables... Antec Aria mini case.
Ah.. I have a GTR mid tower. Built the whole thing myself. It does have side panels somewhere, but in the interests of tinkering over aesthetics, they are nowhere near the PC itself :D
My sidepanels have disappeared as well, they're about 50 cm below the computer. This due to heat problems: one of the fans broke down so processor gets to 63 degrees Celsius while near idle. I don't want to risk it under load so I take the panels off and it goes nicely below 60 and can then do whatever I like without a fear of sudden lockup. Hard to make air flow through it, it doesn't have much free space around it as I've placed it in quite a tight place.
Summer is over, winter is coming... that will reflect to PC heats.
Lets hope nobody notices we're talking to each others only. And that we're not talking about Firefox at all. Uh, Firefox rocks!
Bunch of FireFox nut riders...IE is your only true friend. It knows what you need. It knows where you want to browse. It's intuitive...security...blah...nothing is completely safe, so why fool yourselves into thinking you are...you're all blinded by lust.
FireFox is the devil in a blue dress, all nice and pretty, full of features, but under that beautiful GUI, lurks the evil that will expose your worst security fears. but by that time, it's too late, you're sucked in....
I'm staying with IE, I prefer to stay with the evil I know, rather than go with an evil I don't know.
You will all pay for your nut riderness...that's a new word, I just created it! Gotta go tell those people over at Merriam-Webster to add it to the dictionary.
Well, FoxClock is pretty cool, even if it only has a handful of states under the America's category. Didn't even have my state in there, but I found one that has the same time offset, so w00t. Time in the lower left corner! Do that with IE!
Memnoch has confused Firefox and IE with each other!

You would think that, but I think they've included all time zones, just not all the states. There are only about 5 of them! There is more choices in South America, but all is good. The time is right!
I use firefox and it's brilliant, converted 9 people within 2 months but i find it a bit of a pain!
It uses up around 90mb of RAM whilst running, and the CPU is almost always full! Same on 3 other PCs I have seen :ehh:
Firefox Extensions:

roachfiend.com
Extension Room
Mozilla Update
Is that all... Mine is using 120 MB atm, but then I have about 30 tabs open.Quote:

Most often the CPU hogging comes due to failed configuration of flash or java. Reinstalling the plugin helps in those cases. Firefox is nice as you can often find a clear logic behind the errors.
Oh yeah and there was the well publicised animated .gif bug where large animated gifs cause Fx to lock up. I haven't noticed that for several versions now so I think it's fixed, but I'm not sure, Merri do you know?
