Re: Windows XP
well guess what, left the cover off, had a big house fan blowing into box on saturday, guess what, only crashed the once when i was setting up my fan??
it must be an over heating problem like i expected?, however how do i keep this cool, appart from having a whopping big fan, no way i can slow the clock down or set anything on bios???, seems a bit weird??? its a normal 1.7 celeron i put heat sink compound on, but have seen the temp go upto 37 degrees??, must be an easyer way??

Re: Windows XP
Dear John,
Thanks for using ASRock product.
U-COP will auto run when CPU temperature is too high to damage CPU.
It will shut down the system.
Please flash the latest BIOS and enter BIOS to set the default setting.
http://www.asrock.com/support/downlo...ro-ht.htm#bios
Or please re-plug your CPU and CPU fan to try.
If possible, please change another memory.
Thanks.
Yours Sincerely,
ASRock
got latest bios V2.4, reseated CPU put heat sink compound on fitted heat sink & fan, plugged it spinns ok, at 3400 rpm in bios
anything i havent tried is new memory??, it seems to be working ok 256M
is it worth buying and trying some other??

Re: Windows XP
ok had my fan blowwing in there all weekend , turned off for a while, cpu temp was fine however still crashed, its defo an over heating problem, but unsure if its the cpu, it maybe the memory? is that possible?? or maybe the hard drive coz the fan is blowing on it all, still cant tell whats causing the problem

Re: Windows XP
you said it was fine all weekend, so when did it crash?
-
Re: Windows XP
it was fine all last weekend this weekend was fine until i turned my big fan off then crashed and had to reboot, its defo an overheating problem however i dont think its the CPU?, maybe the memory or hard drive??
just dont know

Re: Windows XP
The CPU is the only thing that has a temp control that shuts it off. It seems like it's the CPU.

Re: Windows XP
thats what i thought, so why :-
have the house fan on works fine, turn off, CPU temp still at around 20-30 degrees and froze?
hard drive? touched the side is warm but not red-hot is a newish drive
wouldnt mind but it isnt exactly warm anywhere in the uk at the moment?

Re: Windows XP
i would suspect the temperature sensor. You can't really tell how hot the pc is. Look in BIOS and see what temp it is shutting the PC off at. It's probably set too low. Look on the MB site to see what the temp range should be.
I just checked, and 30 degrees Celsius is only 86 degrees Farenheit. I'm sure that the processor should be good to around 100 degrees Farenheit, so I don't think that the machine is overheating at all.
The big fan is just keeping it below 30/86 degrees.
Check the mfg's website to get the operating range of the MB. It should be good to around 100 degrees Farenheit.

Re: Windows XP
Turn Off CPU protection (if possible)
Try new memory
Return motherboard
Return processor
replace power supply
When does the monitior say "Vga not Supported"?

Re: Windows XP
1 Turn Off CPU protection (if possible)
2 Try new memory
3 Return motherboard
4 Return processor
5 replace power supply
1) i cant its a hardware thing
2) that was my next step, however havent got any DDR to try
3) ive had over 4/5 months so dont think they will accept that, but got new
4) cant return had for ages
5) with getting a new box?, may as well get all new?? LOL
will have a play over xmas see what i can do

Re: Windows XP
You should still try returning the motherboard... should have atleast a 1yr warranty they should not give you much trouble if your getting the exact same board. but i guess its a issue anymore.
i didnt mean that you had to get new stuff just swap out of another computer for testing.... to see what you need.

Re: Windows XP
