Not sure what you decied in the end in that post, but I think we'll wnat both the dates, when it was due and when we did complete it so that would be better done with an extra field. But if we do it all in one table we don't have loads of the priorities in the todo list all over the place. If its all in one table we can just leave the datecompleted field blank untill it is complete.
