You are right, everyone does die, but a persons death doesn't need to be the result of murder. Especially murder that could have been prevented.Quote:

It is this type of attitude that I am talking about. You have never seen them, never met them, therefore they mean nothing to you. They are just like you, just people trying to survive and provide for themselves and their families, just trying to have a better life, and it's attitudes like yours that allow these murderers to continue killing innocent people without any fear of retribution, why??? Because you don't know them, therefore they don't matter!
Wrong. Your attitude obviously differs and yet the atrocities still continue. You say you care yet what have you done to stop them? Im sure all the victims of tradegy feel a lot safer knowing that you see the news and that you care.Quote:

The difference is I DO CARE. Only I haven't figured out what it is I can do to prevent it, other than voice my opinion to those in power, who obviously share the same opinion as you. Apparently, there are more important things in the world than human life.Quote:

I am not trying to attack you or your opinion, I am merely trying to demonstrate that if more people viewed the world on a smaller, more personal scale, and looked outside their own little worlds, things could change. But like you said, you don't know them, you are never going to meet them, so who cares.
And there is a word for people who DO CARE, their called Humanitarians. People like Jesus, Princess Diana, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, etc.. People who cared about others, for no other reason except that they were fellow human beings.
I do agree with you and if i could click my fingers and make everything right I would, I'm not a complete ****.Quote:

I think the reason no-one really cares is because like all animals human beings have an ultimate instinct of self preservation, basically we look out for ourselves rather than others.
Im not afraid to admit that I only care about myself, my family and my friends.
Also your point about voicing your opinion to those in power is a bit weak, it seems as if your passing the buck. If you want something done right do it yourself.
And your wrong, there is nothing more imprtant to me than my own life, selfish as that may sound.
I do appreciate your opinion however and hope you are able to make a positive impact on the world.
So, this philosophy on the surface might seem like sound advice, but there are specific examples to display the flaws.Quote:

Num1:
Your wife/mother/sister/{you?} are pregnant, and have gotten to the point where the little one is about to pop out. What do you do?
A) Pull out the tongs and dive in?
B) Pull a Van Dyke, ie.. Do your best Headless Chicken Impression, but remember to phone the Hospital/Doctor/Midwife that there services are requested.
Num2:
You've just been in an accident with a Sixteen Wheeler. As luck would have it, your Hummer has only suffered minor injuries, more do to you spilling your coffee all over the upholstered interior than anything else. Unfortunately, you are now faced with a Bearded Gentleman waving a tire iron around amazingly close to your head as you try to understand words like "F*%!" and "S^@*". After understanding that he was hauling a load of Grade A Emu Eggs, which now resemble the worlds largest performance art peice, what do you do?
A) Haul Ass and get the H Outa there?
B) Having been a Long Time Saturday Morning Fan of Jackie Chan, Decide to display your outstanding martial arts manuevers?
C) Ask your now shapely post-pregnant wife to put the kid down, and call the professionally trained police force while you distract the Gentleman {Who looks more like he's bellied up to more bars than he's swung} by engaging him in a foot race.
There are some things best left to the professionals. However, your job is to tell them what to do, when you know you're in over your head.
You seem to have said that purely for arguments sake, anyhow is the goverments job to comply with the request of every single individual person in the country? If so I might ask for a new car.Quote:

Yes, ranked by the number of user's requesting the same thing.

I bet the US replace them with 1000 US troops.Quote:

It's also the attitude of a nation of people that have been scared out of their wits due to years of facism under Franco, and terrorism under Basque Separaist groups over the last half century.
Just because they pull their troops out of Iraq does not mean they are capitulating - The US and UK solution, the war solution, is not the only solution, as Ghandi proved.
This "War on Terror" in it's present format isn't going particularly well, is it?
The name is "Gandhi", not "Ghandi".
.
Funnily, all those people mentioned above wouldn't resort to violence to resolve any conflicts :o Is there any conclusion to be drawn from this?Quote:

It's a good thing there is a United States of America or this world would be one sucky ass place to live. The US is the only one willing to stand up for ourselves and others. If it was left up to all these other pansy ass countries there would be 100's of dictators slaughtering innocents by the millions.
Yeah, and Prez Bush is a prophet in disguise :DQuote:

I don't see what's so great about what the US is doing to the other countries. It's nothing but protecting its own interests, which is nothing to boast about. It's only willing to stand up for itself, and as the Saudi Prince has stated, the other countries are able to tackle their own problems, without the US intervening. In a broader sense, I would even venture out to say that probably all the US has been doing so far is create problems and push counries into instability so they come running towards the only "superpower" left for help.
"Pansy ass" ?? Ha ha ha, probably fits the US in the present sense. Destroying two whole countries because its own security was dozing off when the terrorists entered the country, hurrying to suffocate the free trade environment as soon as a few of its jobs are lost to other cheap sources and trying to force other countries to open their markets for the US products under the name of regional trade agreements. Acts of a country unsure of its own future.
