Sorry to change the subject...
...but some very exciting things are appearing that may lean toward making petrol prices irrelevant.
1) New cool cars, like the Honda Accent. Something like 30km/litre. (I hope I did the conversion right from 71mi/gal) It's a gas/electric hybrid.
2) Cars that run on air aren't too far off! At the Virginia Poytechnic Institute, some buddies of mine are working on one right now. They've obtained from the US Dept. of Defense a hydrogen cell, and rebuilt the propulsion mechanism (since it doesn't have an 'engine' per say anymore) to use it. The car has a max velocity of about 180km/hr and has a single biproduct. No pollutants or noxious gasses. The only thing the car makes is pure, drinkable liquid water. To prove that's what it was, they had to drink it for the judges. ^_^
