the tricky part with freedom of speech is that you have to allow fundamentalist muslims to state their opinions should they feel like.

There's a number of valid points in this whole argument. I'm not sure how best to collate them for this post to make sense and not get lost amongst petty squabbles.

You haven't shown your face around there since you realised that people don't want to argue about your opinions, have you? You always go quiet when you can't get your own way. That's very narrow minded. I believe that anyone with enough faith in their religion can listen to other peoples opinions - even respect them as opinions, without quoting an ancient book written by dozens of authors over hundreds of years.
I respect the fact that you believe you have a strong faith. To some degree I appreciate that - it's an aspect of your personality that shows conviction and strength. I dislike the fact that you are stubborn and sometimes rude about it. Surely true-life stories of your own experiences would be of more value in an argument. How Jesus saved your life is more important than how he supposedly turned water into wine nearly 2000 years ago.
Ghosty: You'd make a far better point if you try not to be offensive, no matter how much people wind you up. In the same respect as with the bible, I personally think people quoting the Qu'ran have little reference to contemporary issues. There's no denying - it is an old book.
For the record, I quite like Islamic beliefs in the historical sense - Moses, Jesus, Mohammed (or any other spelling :rolleyes: )all feature.
All: Just like Jamie said, chit chat is a privelege, not a right. There is no free speech. I "left" here a couple of months ago because I was bored of the complaints, the arguments, the meaningless threads wasting VBFs server space. I don't really care whether or not I'm missed, this place isn't the same anymore anyway. Things have to change for me to come back to any degree, and I imagine this is the case for many VBF ex-pats.
Religion or no religion is not important. If you can live your life by your own set of rules (be they ancient and handed down directly from God, or simply self-imposed), things will be ok. When you have to impress your own standards on someone else, ther will be friction. And it will be unpleasant.
anyway, I've said my piece. I hope things settle down, and people become comfortable with themselves again. Athiests, Agnostics, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, and members of all the many smaller religions I've not mentioned can and should live together in peace. Surely that's what God, or yourself, really want?
