Um, NotLKH,
I hate to tell you this, but thought-out, rational arguments are
not allowed on the chit-chat forum. You can get banned for that.
Please swear a lot in your next post so that you "even it out".

I totally agree with you and that is a valid point. Americans are criticized a lot in European and Asian countries and on VBF and no one seems to mind it.... but for some reason, if it done against a muslim or asian country, there ARE cries for moderation. I have no answer to why.Quote:

The point is, I have heard many times overgeneralized, non-profanic statements such as Americans deserved yada, The English are yada, Canadians are yada, Australians love Beer { ;) }, and by and large, any who disagreed would enter a discussion with whomever it was that said such a thing.
However, in this instance, instead of a rational discussion over the merits of such an overgeneralized statement, I saw Rage, Complaining, and Calls for Moderation.

I criticise America. I criticise Europe. I criticise England. I criticise certain Middle Eastern countries.
I don't criticise Australia though, bizarrely enough. Might be something to do with the fact that they don't stick their noses into things (America and the EU), or cause major humanitarian trouble (ME).
same here ... england especially ;)Quote:

Calling someone "ungrateful" is very different from calling someone "anti-Muslim" or likewise.
Not to influence your opinions on the subject, as I don't want to participate in the discussion, but while the Guardian in India has been quoted for saying that the Indian government was not enough grateful, the Mid Day in India has been running a campaign among its readers to find out ways to express the gratitude for the donation. Most leading dailies have been discussing the reactions to the donation in their editorials.
