i'm enjoying learning Linux, i even find a lot of aspects of XP lacking now, but i still mainly use XP
windows xp pro
I prefer 2K professional. My server... hehe professional running a server... has been running for close to 2 months now because all it does is host some of my mp3s and my site... although my f**king DSL is down right now. GRRR. Then my other computer, my gaming computer, if I didn't reboot it at lunch today to try and get the DSL back up, it would have been going on 10 days running. That's with Genome@Home running constantly and game playing, like Age of Mythology and Counter-Strike. I don't see why some people have problems with 2K. It's as stable as a rock for me.
what's DDOS?Quote:

Beacon: Router. At home. No Uninterruptible Power Supply :) What happens when the power goes?
Zaei: Memory leaks?
:p
MrPolite: DDOS = Distributed Denial Of Service. Google it ;)
lol, good one
ducky: Yes, memory leaks, much as it shames me =). At some point im going to go and write my own cuztom allocator class, and use it as a singleton >=).
MrPolite: DOS was fun, but Lunix is better. I run my second lunix box in console mode, and only ever use kde3 when I REALLLLLY need to. On my actual server, that thing doesnt even have a monitor, so the only real way to use it is through telnet.
Z.
telnet
Your not talking that annoying windows one?
Try Putty dude!
Sorry, I forgot to add Windows ME.
Not Hyperterminal! I run Win2k, so I get a nice console telnet... like the real thing!Quote:

Just installed Windows .NET Server RC1.
Gotta say it looks impressive. Although, the time limit is a little worrying.
Does anybody know what happens when it expires? Is there a crack available to get around this?
Ta,
Chris.
Anybody have any good links or tips for configuring a linux router?

Windows ME is the best OS ever!!!

Sorry about that, I just came over all strange.
XP Pro is the best, in my opinion.

Perhaps you mean a Linux box used as a router?
In that case yes! I've posted a link to a linux routing script on here before!
If ya cant find it let me know!
b :)
win2k for about a year now :)
Do a google for FreeSCO - it's a tiny Linux distro that can easily be set up as a router. Fits on and runs off a floppy.
I keep my XP Pro work PC on all the time, and no problems for months now.
anyone think they will make a Windows XP SE (second edition) or leave it alone
Probably release SP's.Quote:

BTW nice uptime Parksie. :D
Pretty much any POSIX-compliant program will run on the BSD variants.
Oh, and yeah, I didn't get round to moving the tuxtime program over to my OpenBSD setup when I moved from GNU/Linux.
Visual Studio 2003 actually :pQuote:

98SE was a good OS also. You can get a free upgrade to ME form M$, download crashalotmore.dll and put it in your windows directory.;)
