I had a problem, which could have been really annoying if i wouldnt have lookied in the right place.
after installing Linux the other day and then Windows having a dual boot - my windows hard drive partition is J:/
all i had to do was open the settings config file in the main folder and edit it.
not many ppl have a J:\ drive me thinks, but u might wanna fix that.
i get this error in winXP pro corp
i also got an error: input past end of file. however, i cant seem to be able to reproduce the error anymore, but for a certain period of time it refused to start up...also i think the program gets confused with id3v2 tags cause it puts the genre in the duration field/comments in the artist field, etc..migth want to look into a class which supports v2...

Personally, I like your app because it's simple. The more stuff you put in it, the less likely I am to use it. I don't really like a lot of flash and dazzle. I just want something simple that plays my mp3's, doesn't use a lot of resources, and I can minimize and get off my screen. But that's just me and maybe not what the overwhelming majority of people want.
He, I like you app! It's simple and works great. There's just 1 modification I would like to propose. As more people have said already, I like my music to get playing and then hide. Perhaps you could add a tray-icon to make you're player invisible but audible :)
Just a suggestion. But your player is very nice work!
one more thing, dont start the program maximized. find a way to load only the artist and title of the song and then have a menu where you right click on the mp3 and all the other id3 tag stuff come up..(like winamp, you know what i mean..). this way it becomes more streamlined and compact, hence looking nicer :)

Neh, if I indeed added a Volume, Different Colors and a SysTrayIcon If would be my perfect mp3-player.
Just downloaded ur app, and I agree with cafeenman, great prog.
Lot nicer than most i've seen....
Take a little while when first installed it, but i have tons f mp3's.....
So are you going to have a mailing list or something to let us know if you upgrade it....lol..

ok, I am getting error.
Error - input past end of file
error # = 62
when i try to open the mp3explorer using its default playlist it gives me this error....
i can about/retry/ignore
now I have added a lot of files to the playlist so am thinkin that might be why its input past end of file..
whats the max # of mp3's allowed in the playlist???
I can get around by clearing the playlist and adding the files again, but it gives me that error when adding them too...
other than that, no problems.

Well, my way of reading the playlist is not the best way there is; make the plalist saving all data in a textfile. SO that takes 7 lines per mp3. Then when I read it I do that like this:Quote:

I think I need to make it Line Input intead of just Input, otherwise the thing could srewup is there's a name with commas and dblquotes in it. And I should build in something to stop it from crashing is someone messed up the playlist.ini file.VB Code:

Yeah the interface is aweful. BTW is someone here good at creating interfaces? I like coding much better then creating a interface. I'm not creative at all. I need a decent one for another music player. :p

You might want to gives us your code so those running XP can try and solve this problem.
I don't think VB has the capabilities to decode an MP3. It requires file streams, which as of this moment I am learning in C++. I am already working on an MP3 decoder/player in C++ and creating a frontend in VB. C++ 0wns VB if you want a pure DLL (like an MP3 decoder/player). But VB 0wns EVERY other language as far as frontends and GUI's are concerned. I think it's the perfect combination, C++ for the hard algorithmic coding, and VB for the nice, professioanl quality GUI's! You can't go wrong!Quote:

Or do you have vb5 or sumthin? In this version the really basic components are missing from the setup file...
