what are you compressing DiVX?? duh!!! stupid... its fecking compressed anyway! ... you could try, and shave a few Mb off... not worth the time
well actually just because you can't fit 800 mb on a cdr doesn't mean you can't fit 800mb on. When you drag an mpeg file into the nero pane it has a status bar there for a minute or so. what it is doing there is compressing it into s(vcd) if you have an 800mb
s(vcd) file then that will turn out to be 700 filling the CD. compressing divx is like trying to rar a rar file
just get virtual dub and reencode it into a lower bitrate. It will take like 10 - 15 minutes
Yeah, but all I need is a few MB.Quote:

Gandalf_Grey: yea but SVCD sucks hell man!
yea well after Nero it isnt 800mb is it?! so it doesnt mean you can fit 800 on a 700mb cd duhQuote:

I know i like vcd better because of a smaller file size with little reduction in quality. however SVCD remains a popular formatQuote:

Yeah, I only lost 8 MB. :(Quote:

The file is 1:27:59 (h:m:s, or 5279 by my calculation). What's the maximum bitrate I can use to squeeze it to just under 700 MB?
on that length a bitrate of 1000 kilobits per second would give you a file size of 660 mb. 1060 would fill 700 mb exactly although i don't recomend cutting it that close. Go for around 1030 which would give you a size of about 680 mb.
Encoding at 1030 kbps now :)
it shouldn't take very long its not like you are going to SVCD or anything
1:45, but I'm doing other stuff so I set the priority to low.
Is there a program to make DivX into VCDs that doesnt take hours?
use the wizard in Nero to do that for you :)Quote:

great thanks :)
35gb = the space left on my new fast hard drive
Encoder = VirtualDub :)
Bitrate = 430kbits/s
Quality = good enough for me :P
^
The only reason the quality is that low is because it's from plain analog NTSC TV, not that much quality to begin with!
