At least I don't have to pay interest over inflation though. I heard they were considering making student loans non-interest-free, which strikes me as a bit dumb. I don't mind student loans (although the means-testing system is a pile of **** - that's speaking as someone who gets treated well by it and sees how bloody awful it is for some people, to the point where they can't carry on with their course without getting expensive commercial loans, so they drop out) but I really object to the idea of paying more interest on it. I started uni in 1990, when Student loans first started - although it may seem like a crap system, it is actually very reasonable, both rates wiase, and personnel-wise. I payed it off in VERY small installment throughout my workign life after Uni, and they were OK about missed payments and stuff...
