Oh, Darling (She's so Heavy)
Oh, Darling (She's so Heavy)
Long and Winding Road
"Oh Darling" and "I want you (She's so Heavy)" were different songs if I remember correctly.
Still, you can have both if you want! :)
I did want both!
Before I posted I had started to put I Want You and Oh Darling and then I added the (Shes so heavy) and screwed it up and ended up posted nonsense twice!!!!!!!
My intentions were good though. I knew what I meant, did n't you?
Bit of an Abbey Road fan then are you?
Yep! I popped it in this morning on the way to work as my own little tribute to George.
"Because" is my favourite track from that albumn.
The White albumn is my favourite of their albumns, however.
There a huge amount of groovyness in the "Let it be " album...very underrated.
I'll stick to Revolver as my top Beatles Album, followed v closely by White.
How do you feel about Beatles 1?
There was a lot of great music on the CD but my favorites weren't included. It seemed to include the more commerically popular songs rather than the one's that suited my taste more.
Didn't stop me from buying it and listening to it regularly though!
Gaffer
Yes, I agree, there are some very good tracks on "Let it Be". If you dropped "The long and winding road" and the title track, it would be much more listenable.
The same goes for "Revolver". "Elenor Rigby", "Yellow Submarine" and "Here, there and Everywhere" should have stayed off the albumn.
I always thought that "The Beatles for Sale" was their most underrated albumn.
Katie
I didn't buy the "Beatles 1" for the reasons you have stated. It's just got the usual famous ones on there. They even left off the best single they ever did: "Strawberry Fields"!
Yeah agreed - too commercial. But they did do the commercial stuff well too, dontchathink?
I'm like you - I'd prefer to have the albums and discover songs I'd forgotten about rather than a "best of" collection. But I have no problem with that markettign strategy, as I keeps them accessible to the younger audience...
I went to Uni in Liverpool and got to see some great Beatles-related stuff on a regular basis: My bus to Uni went up Penny Lane, I drank in a pub Lennon used to frequent as an art student, I saw the REAL location of the Cavern club (a doorway that people pee in after the pubs shut!!!)
Anyway, I'm off to meet InvDuncan adn RSINGH for beer - have a good weekend Katie.. :)
Have fun, Gaffer! btw..how do you meet someone who is invisible?
Elenor Rigby is a good song :)Quote:

.... 1, my brother's response, "2 down 2 to go"
.....2, I've not read the whole thread- anyone mention the Concert for Bangladesh? I remember the applause near the beginning and Ravi Shankar saying, "Well if you enjoyed the tuning up so much....." or words to that effect.
....3 (there is a 3rd thing) The guy who discovered gold here on the 'Rand c1886 was one George Harrison, and he sold the claim for 10 quid.
One of my favourites is Savoy Truffle.
