The way I learned the trigonometric ratios was as follows :
Sally O'Hara , Caught A Homo , Touching Our Asses
Sin=Opposite / Hypotheneus
Cos = Adjacent / Hypotheneus
Tan = Opposite / Adjacent

He's been a great help to me with Sentience so I figure the least I could do is try and help him with this. Of course, I've probably made a complete town halls of it but I had to make the effort.
I agree with your philosophy (as it's mine also) that you shouldn't just do a task for someone, you should show them how it's done and let them do it themselves.
Jesus christ I was nearly an expert on trig about 3 years ago, but not now. Its just a pain in the ass. Better yet ; a royal pain in the ass :)

Right after some nice code from arbiter, and a few modifications here and there, here is a sample tracert jobby. I've removed all the winsock code, and this app will just make up a route and display it.

I also want to somehow tell the user the hop times and hosts etc...
Make the screen resizable, the graphics a tad smaller and put the hop times next to the hop points. Maybe have them visible when the mouse moves over a 'tendril'.
It's bound to look bunched up and queer in the centre as you've got a lot of graphics in the centre of a circle. If you started them a number of pixels out from the centre then it would look a little more spaced out. Bit like you really.
