Well, that's a better design than the first one I had ;)
Someone else can sort that out once it works. However, good luck to anyone trying to change my mind on that general layout :p

oh no, the general layout is good ;)
Well you can have my tutorial in db forums for a good start!!
And a got number 2 as well now.
Parksie why are you trying to match PSC???
Guys - do realize, we aren't making this like www.planet-source-code.com, that'd be copying.
This is basically just FAQs :).
You guys should join Raabs Cool Code Crazy Clique Club for Coders.
I was thinking about the role of the editors.
Basically there should be a number of them, as matt said.
But I've had a thought as to what they do.
When a user submites a FAQ, it sits in a queue, as parksie said I believe. Then what the editors do is check it to make sure that it makes sense, conforms to a general layout/standard, spelling is relatively correct, and that what the FAQ says is true.
Eg. I could submit something saying something that the Variant data type is the fastest for use in CPU intensive loops.
If there was nobody to check that, it'd go right up there into code optimization and would be completely wrong.
Because viewing articles on PSC is a painful experience. PSC works much better when you download a piece of code (as it should be).Quote:

However, if people use ours like that and we kick PSC's arse I won't complain...
how about me, i have lots of spare time (you know, between the mackeral and whipped cream)
I've just had a look at your example, and found this:
Frankly, I'm now a little worried about you... ;) :rolleyes:Quote:

Are you going to have the same editors to check that the code and the English used is up to scratch? Some people here are bloody good coders, but damn near well nigh on illiterate. :(
(And vice versa as well.)
It was my test...there were loads of them (notice it's A B C? They all went B C D, C D E, etc. - I was testing the search)Quote:

Y'know - I was only kidding about the chimp thing. The ABC wasn't too difficult to work out (even for me).
My next point was serious, though.
Perhaps.
Although most of the people on this list seemed to have fairly good grasp of English :) If the worst comes to the worst, I'll end up checking each one over for language (after it's been edited for content).
i am native english speaker, i think that me would be much good at the job... :D lol (i can really speak better english than that though)
Well, it'll be pretty obvious who can and cannot speak english properly.
Seems that way :)
Sorry ppl, I haven't managed to spend as much time on developing the site as I might have wanted, but keep on getting the articles and code together :)
Email them to me if you have to, but if you do that it won't have a profile for you, although you WILL be credited (you need to register before you can post so we can link submissions to vb-world users).
Therefore, for maximum benefit - if you want to email anything in, please provide:
username you want
password you want
vb-world username
email address (if different from the one you send it from)
I'll make sure you get put into the DB :)
can I submit my code to turn lead into gold?
Has a few bugs, but works most days.
