According to later reports, the pictures shown were not indicative of the Palestinian people. Most of them stayed inside glued to televisions in horror like everyone else. We were just shown the few who had congregated to celebrate.

Even if you hate a country that much it still is inhuman to celebrate when innocent die.

I wouldnt trust the news media as far as i could kick their collective butts. The words 'beat up' spring to mind. In all the time that this tragedy has been going on and in all of the Muslim world they have ONE video of less than a dozen people celebrating ?????? Hmmmm

I think I posted this on another thread (but it might have got deleted). America repeatedly refused to extradite IRA terrorists to Britain until very recently. WHat is the difference between US harbouring terrorists and Afghanistan harbouring terrorists?

When he says he will attack the people harbouring the terrorists, is he refering to the innocent Afghani people who have no say in whether Bin Laden stays there or not?

Or maybe it will all be all right if he just attacks miltary targets (like the pentagon :rolleyes: )

And finally, if memory serves me right, wasn't it America who financed the Taliban against the Russians?.... I could be well mistaken here, my memory's a bit hazy (I was at college and drunk at the time!).

How do you become "more free" then ? :confused:

• Firstly, it's not a matter of physical territory, it's about education.
• Secondly, they are trying to take my land away from me, while eastern of here, they have PLENTY of room.
  And if they were right (which I personally, think they aren't), terrorism is not the proper way to get it, if at all.

If you don't have the freedom to express yourself, if someone else makes the rules for you to obey no matter what, if someone does not acknowledge that you are a freethinking individual then you're not free. There are no gradations in being free.
Either you are or either you aren't. Being half free is not being free at all. It just means that you have a bit more liberty in some areas. It does not mean that you are a free individual.

and I think many of us have seen film of IRA supporters in Boston cheering terrorist acts and know where Armalites came from (and who paid for them) so we can understand the difference between people within a state supporting something and the state itself supporting terrorism.

well the last I heard deals with afganistan. They are pulling out all americans who are over thier according to my S.S teacher. So im not sure what that means...but it was sure angering to see those dam palistians partying on TV!!!!!!

Ask yourself how many innocents were killed in the attacks in the US. Im not conding the killing of any innocent people, but you seem to think that no one is innocent unless they are muslim.

In 1991 I was visiting friends in Washington, and we were passing the evening in an Irish bar. There were no actual Irishmen that I could see - just Americans (plus me).

A couple of men walked in rattling a collection tin on behalf of The Friends of the IRA. The exact phrase they used was "Every dollar helps to kill a British soldier". I was stunned to see that virtually everyone there started reaching for money to give to them. I stood up and started shouting at these people - who were to supposed to be our friends and allies, for Christ's sake - pointing out this small fact, plus the point that the IRA were more likely to bomb a shopping centre than anything military. For my trouble, my two friends and I got the living crap kicked out of us by seven or eight people, and were hauled off by the police, accused of having started a brawl. Thankfully we weren't charged, but I didn't leave with any shiny happy feelings about Americans.

Having said that - I've known Americans personally for about half of my life, and none of them were IRA supporters. Two of them even stood up for me and fought alongside me in this bar. These other bastards were a (hopefully) small minority. I don't think I've ever suggested that all of the USA should be nuked because of their actions.

I agree. (I have been in a similair fight over exactly the same subject).

I lived for a short while in Boston, and despite the localised support for the IRA, the vast majority of Americans I know condem the IRA for what they are, terrorists.

Unfortunately in Britain, what we see is news footage of people celebrating the murder of innocent people.... after all, thats what sells news.

These same news-people are showing you footage of a group of Palestinians celebrating (I notice it's exactly the same footage over and over again). I would suggest that this is exactly the same scenario. Just as there are very few Americans who agree with terrorism, I would suggest that there are very few Muslims who agree with terrorism. So let's keep some perspective here when people start talking about wiping out other countries.

So what are you guys going to do if and when the US decides to
attack afghanistan? The talaban has made a comment that if they
are attacked they will retaliate and they are calling for their brothers around the world including the US to fight back. I have talked to numerious people in my area and they all are ready to fight if such a situation arises. Are you?

I don't think there would be a need to fight (at least for you and me :) )
The millitary act againt some Middle Eastern country(ies) is inevitable. I would think that we could expect actions within a month (according to some officials). Although it is sad that some innocent people may suffer but our government says that we at war and at war casualties are expected.

I'm not saying that this is right nor wrong, I'm just saying that this is a fact.
