This feels kinda like an extension to the high court ruling saying that any act carried out by the President can't be criminal because it would interfere with his ability to carry out the job. I stand by that as a dumb as rocks argument but this just extends that principle further down the ladder. Once you say that an official function necessitates criminality, all rules are gone.

That's a move from Putin's playbook. As long as the people below you are sufficiently corrupt, they have to toe the line to stay out of prison. Once their existence depends on your forbearance, you own them.

That's an interesting point.
An extension of that is, if a country is heavily reliant on you assistance then they can be manipulated. Jordan is a current example.

Re: Post election prediction
As I wrote
Donald Trump’s call with Vladimir Putin brought the Russian leader in from the cold as they hatched plans to end the war in Ukraine and agreed to swap presidential visits.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not included, in an alarming sign for the government in Kyiv. Zelensky was at the center of everything the Biden administration did on the war. Trump did call Zelensky later Wednesday

Wow, coming from someone who spouts all sorts of irrelevant comments, and admits to not bothering to read articles that is a pretty pathetic attitude to throw at another forum member.
Throwing the word 'woke' around as if it is an insult has all the impact of a small child describing everything they don't like as 'poo' - it takes the same amount of critical thinking and effort.
Carry on paying yourself on the back, spouting your irrelevant nonsense, and acting as if somehow you have pulled some master stroke in winning an argument.
Willful ignorance isn't a strength, despite what the more extreme right wing people believe.

Yea it seems USAID started with good intentions but got hijacked along the way by radical leftists who used it to push woke agendas around the world. However, some of the items are so utterly ridiculous, even by liberal standards than I'm starting to think a lot of it is really just embezzlement or money laundering.
I saw a video on X where an independent journalist investigated some addresses found in these USAID documents and discovered serious discrepancies. Some buildings didn't exist, some are old run down shacks that couldn't possibly facilitate whatever thing the money was allocated for. This USAID thing reeks of corruption. I suspect that this is only the beginning and later down the line things are going to be revealed that will be absolutely shocking, even more so than what has already been revealed.
I think Dems didn't expect to lose the election because if they did, none of this would have been revealed. They knew this would happen if Trump won which is why they tried so hard to stop him from becoming President and right up until the last moment, they thought they succeeded. It makes so much sense now why they were relentlessly going after him. He made it very clear he was going to end their schemes so they panicked and threw everything they could at him.

Reuters is indeed a news agency, that contract however was to Thomson Reuters Special Services LLC- a completely different company that just happens to have one word in common.
Btw Thomson Reuters is a data analytics company that specialises in this area - but again reading the image you posted and doing a 30 second google search is far too much effort when it is easier to push disinformation that servers your own viewpoint.

Not getting into the war but in wiki it writes:
Historically, no single individual has been permitted to own more than 15% of Reuters, under the first of the Reuters Principles, which states, "Reuters shall at no time pass into the hands of any one interest, group or faction."[24] However, that restriction was waived for the purchase by Thomson, whose family holding company, the Woodbridge Company currently owns 53% of the enlarged business. Robert Peston, business editor at BBC News, stated that this has worried Reuters journalists, both because they are concerned that Reuters' journalism business will be marginalized by the financial data provision business of the combined company, and because of the threat to Reuters's reputation for unbiased journalism by the appearance of one majority shareholder.

You should have done. It was right there in the article you linked to. 2007... under Bush. Damn those woke... Republicans... I guess.
Re Ukraine, I'm not opposed to Trump talking to Putin, it seems like a necessary part of the process. The worry is that he spoke to Putin and then had Hegseth announce that Ukraine would not be able to keep it's sovereign territory and would not be allowed to join NATO, thus having no security guarantees in roughly 10 years time once Russia has rearmed. And that done before speaking to Zelensky or the rest of NATO. That is capitulation.
If Trump manages to negotiate a deal that sees future security for the people of Ukraine I will give him credit. But the "Master of the Deal" announcing that he's going to give an aggressor everything he wants before starting negotiations does not feel likely to produce that result to me.
-
Re: Post election prediction
I think Russia will stop when he acquires all the "Russian Speaking territories" and sign a treaty that will also rule our Ukraine from joining NATO. I think that was the master plan but Trump made it easier. That seems likely to happen in May.
Well someone has to win in a war and Russia won, all Europe idiots that participated are now paying high prices for gas either from US or from Russia that cannot be called Russian so it deviates to Turkey or Greece comes right back and christianed as EU fuel and smuggled to EU. Yep, we are complete idiots.

Thomson Reuters owns the Reuters news agency. Given that a lot of USAID funds have been found to be used to promote propaganda around the world, it's a pretty easy conclude it's the same thing happening here.

Relationship with Thomson Reuters Special Services LLC, not Reuters the news agency. Also the image is from the USA Government's spending, not USAID - so you might well be talking about USAID and Reuters but the image you posted has nothing to do with either.

Given you are saying it is true when you are confusing Reuters the news agency with Thomson Reuters Special Services LLC, given you haven't bothered to read what the contract was actually about either - I would say you are arguing without evidence yet again not bothering to do any research beyond an image you probably found on Twitter (a well known source of disinformation these days)

The image you posted had nothing to do with USAID either though, that is a government department (Department of Defence) having a publicly disclosed contract (not some dark secret unearthed by Musk), with a company that specialises in data analytics and national security, for the purposes of investigating and protecting against Active Social Engineering and Large scale Social Deception - look at the description "ACTIVE SOCIAL ENGINEERING DEFENSE (ASED) LARGE SCALE SOCIAL DECEPTION (LSD)" it even contains the word "DEFENSE" in the actual title!

I feel like it's one you'd want to have if you have a genuine interest in dealing with corruption.
I feel like you'd want to have a conversation about how Musk makes $8 million dollars a day from government contracts if you have a genuine interest in dealing with corruption.
I feel like you'd want to have a conversation about how the State Department publicised that they were going to be buying $400 million worth of armoured Teslas then walked it back if you have a genuine interest in dealing with corruption.
I feel like you'd want to have a conversation abut how Musk put teenager who was previously fired for leaking company secrets in charge of American's personal finance data if you have a genuine interest in dealing with corruption.
I have a theory about why you're not having these conversations.

Yes, you're correct. My bad on that. It was the Department of Defense, not USAID. Got my wires a bit crossed there as this is part of the same conversation. I've been consuming a lot of information on this story so it's all kind of blurred together sometimes.
My main point still stands though. I believe based on everything that came out so far that the Democrats were using USAID, the DoD and whatever else is available to them to push propaganda and engage in all kinds of corruption and wasteful spending. That to me is clear as day and indisputable.

Trump is a racist, a misogynist, a liar, a fraudster, an adulterer, and a sex offender - is that honestly your definition of a great man? So the world needs someone who will damage his own countries interests with tariffs, side with Russia and other dictators, give tax breaks to billionaire business men, try to claim Canada, Panama, and Greenland, change the law (in an attempt to eliminate Transgender people) that effectively made all Americans female (and ignored the existence of intersex people), increase the cost of living for American citizens, place unqualified people in senior job roles, and effectively sold the presidency to Musk.

It may surprise you to know that you are every bit as incomprehensible to me as I am to you. What is happening here is a microcosm of what is happening in the US and across much of the first world. There was a time when we were more united by what we shared in common than we were divided by our differences. Somewhere along the line these differences became dogmatic and tolerance for these differences dwindled drastically. We are no longer willing to listen to each other and this is a very sad state of affairs and I don't know what the solution is. So I guess each side will have to duel it out until one or the other wins. History will decide which of us is right.

Except from the idiotic trap to catch Niya and accuse him of been a Nazi little did he know that Niya is actually black! :D
See how everyone else backed away on this? So yes he supports Musk, I dare you to call him a Nazi.Be a leftish racist, Go on!
And before you start hitting on me again.

Biden shown to touch a little girls nipple. So are you against this gesture or are you covering a pedophile?
And then half will say that he did that and half will say it's not intentional.
See how it goes? So I guess I will be called a Nazi at some point, surprise me and don't do it. I did not speak of it last time but a lot of distant relatives of mine where slaying in Crete when the Nazis occupied it. Take that in consideration before the name calling.
But I'm most anxious to see plau accuse Niya of been a Nazi. That would be awesome...ly stupid.
Oh and have a great weekend and God bless America.
I know Niya is black, does that mean I am not allowed to ask if he supports someone doing the Nazi salute? If Niya is supporting a Nazi and nazi behaviour then he is complicit, the colour of a person's skin doesn't exempt them. So could you explain how that makes me a leftish racist, when you are saying a person's skin colour identifies their political beliefs.?

If you honestly think a person can accidentally do two nazi salutes, not a gesture similar to a Nazi salute but an actual nazi salute then you are probably willing to forgive him anything he does.

Re: Post election prediction
Oh, I see. You were saying PD accused him of being a Nazi. I mean, he didn't... and anyone can read back in the thread to verify that.
Between the two of you you're doing a dandy job of showing just how inconsistent, ill informed and generally hypocritical the cult of Trump and Musk currently is.
I'll say again what I've said many times before. There are good reasons to praise Musk's achievements. There are good reasons to support Trump. I don't adhere to either of those arguments but I recognise and acknowledge them. That's politics. But when you're presented with Nazi salutes and advocation for ethnic cleansing and find yourself unable to criticise it, I'm pretty sure that means you're in a cult... or worse.

Re: Post election prediction
Yes but we are not talking about me right now. Don't try to slide your way out. Niya thinks it was accidental, what do you say to him? Do you have any name calling? Any remarks? If not it's 9:53 I'm packing in 5 minutes and I'm waiting for you to comment on Niya obscure belief. Will you comment or can I go?

Re: Post election prediction
Not Funky. Actually still waiting for a Greece visit and I'll bet you 100% we will talk about this and laugh.
Gotta go.

1. Niya hasn't said that as far as I'm aware. He's simply avoided responding to it.
2. If he did say that I'd say he was acting as an apologist for Neo Nazism.
