glad 2 see ur free of anger ;)
Basically, I'm doing Data migration all this week from the clients existing system to our new one ( database is SQL server if you hadn't guessed :) ) This entails moving 25000 odd records from their four existing databases ( Access and Fox pro) into our new database. There are lovely things like Date's stored as text to contend with and it isn't exactly going to plan.
never liked databasesQuote:

...usual warnings etc, it wasn't me, I didn't see anything, call me a lawyer...Code:
/* NOTE: This script will truly corrupt a database. It should not be run on ANY real
database. It is only for simulating corruption for training purposes.
*/
sp_configure allow, 1
go
reconfigure with override
go
update sysindexes set FirstIAM = 1234
where id = OBJECT_ID('roysched')
go
sp_configure allow, 0
go
reconfigure with override
go
Cheers Mate. I so Wish I could run that script.
That's OK, the above will only work on the PUBS db. I won't post how to make it work on another because some spanner is bound to try something malicious with it. Script kiddies Worraloadofbuggerybollocks;)
you implying that I can't see stright away , what needs to be changed to get it to work , Worraloadofbuggerybollocks :p
I like the line :
It is only for simulating corruption for training purposes
Simulating my arse - it will totaly fook it up - worraloadofbuggerybollocks:p
Ian,
if your sql server is 2000, try a few clients doing complex (> 3) joins FOR XML.
