You are a gentleman and a scholar! A community book is just what we need!
In fact, here it is:
The FAI That Could - The story of Moti Barski, a forum and the desparate efforts to stave off insanity
I've started it, but feel free to add and edit to it as you all desire. The password is vbforums1.
That site is a super easy site for online collaboration like this. We can even go back revisions if a certain someone deletes what we've already written ;)
And, don't forget to use the Battke Programming 2011 3rd Edition "book" as a reference!
Happy writing!

Re: artificial intelligence
Here's something interesting to try
1. Read the section about making a human doll. The part about drilling a hole for the mouth and using hot water bottles aludes to its intended purpose.
2. Now, remember the writer's likeness from the Youtube videos.
3. Combine the two points and enjoy the mental image.

Did you read the first page of the book? This is what I aimed at! Except for the hole+warm water thing. But I'm sure we could throw that in there.
Be sure to edit it!

Re: artificial intelligence
I believe the Moti-vacated right out of this thread. And thus another fine chapter comes to an end.

That sucks. We were getting a good laugh.
I think he'll be back though.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
He'll be back to warn us when his AI becomes self aware and is about to take over the world.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Maybe we should build a robot to go back in time kill him before he creates it. It can be called "The Terminator"
-
Re: artificial intelligence
But the robot could take sides with his AI and together they could create the Matrix.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
I'm not sure the Matrx would come out of that. Probably something more akin to a psychadelic trance.
Like the "Happy ..... happy ..... happy ..... KILL THE PRIME MINISTER OF MALASIA!" from Zoolander. =)

Holy cr**, I didn't know they had scientific techniques to measure crap! Do they use colour, odour, volume, weight, density or what?

Did you actually invent that word? Your AI seems to be making rapid strides!

What you mean you can get 'Holy Crap' too?, does the pope have to bless it ?

No it's an actual word, there are different spellings of it but basically it means 'Valueless' or or of 'little value'.
What it means in the context of Moti's sentence i have no idea !

Re: artificial intelligence
From the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (the big 2-volume 1, 1992 edition):
Attachment 83407
So Moti's meaning was clear. It's the word "us" that worries me:rolleyes:.

A papal flush, to be precise.
Well, it would have to be scientifically measured before its actual value could be ascertained. Or else we shall be accused of floccinaucinihilipilification!
PS: No, I didn't type the word.

I encourage you to feel free to measure that as long as you so desire, and using any metric you want, just so long as it doesn't involve me. For my part, my estimation of its value is sufficient, and I have no desire to make any further measurements....but you go ahead.....whatever floats your boat.

That was my favorite response.
....though now that I think of it, I have never really "pulled one up" before....rather the opposite, I suppose.

You've never had one peek out and then dart back in (usually painfully) ??
Mmmm. Mental images. This thread has gone to the dumps.

Yeah, except now we are the ones writing nonsense, not Motti.
