Page 11! :D
Hunh, we actually got back on track a bit on page 10 rather than going right off the rails.
This should become a small chat.

Still on page 7 for me. I have the option set to 60 posts a page.
Yeah that's what I saw but where you get the "wait for x seconds" message I get "you've already downloaded your allowance". Ho Hum.Quote:
I'm just going to leave this right here...
FD, That was what i saw until i realised that you had to register !
You can only download a certain amount of data without registering and Moti's book takes you over the limit !
Have you got a copy of the book yet ? if not you really should !!
Gosh, I wish I knew that earlier! I would have got a lot of red ink from the amount of mosquitoes my bro squishes every day!Quote:
ink can be made from crushed bugs.
I thought I had seen it all. But you astound me!Quote:

.
How is 'near' opposite of 'close' :D
Well that ain't happnin. Abi has emailed me a copy though so I'll probably have a read tonight.Quote:

Sounds like Sun Tsu.Quote:

Something I don't understand: If this book is about teaching people to program why are all the quotes about completely unrelated topics. I'm half expecting it to include a recipe for Quails Eggs (Just to pre-empt Shaggy's inevitable punnage: I quail at the the thought - meh, he'll probably come up with something better). Is YummyMoomin a keen chef?
The early topics are all about programming, but later on you get a whole array of non-programming related topicsQuote:

Such gems as - (taken straight from the contents)
ONE ON ONE FIGHTING
NAVIGATION FOR QUERIERS
SOLAR NAVIGATION
japan addresses
HOW TO WRITE A RESUME
How To Do Laundry
PLANTING
FOOD BY SEASONE
GROW POTATOS
HUNTING small animals
MUSHRUMS
I would post more but I dont want to spoil it for you - he he :0)
Ah, now I understand. My assistant cooked dinner for me and my SO last night. The potatos were OK and the mushrums were excellent, but the small animals tended to scoot off the plate as soon as you came near them with a fork. I guess the cooking instructions in BP are minimal. BB, bzzzz from Flya.
I skimmed through the book, without reading most parts in any detail. The gems are quite frequent, though the line "when close appear near" was one of my favorites. At times it was very hard to figure out whether the subject was about programming, program usage, or something entirely different. For instance, the section about spies, if taken alone, could be refering to the real world, as could the sections before it, yet the whole section appears to be possibly strategy tips for one particular strategy game (whether on computers or not I don't know).
I also can't figure out why FD chose quail eggs. There happens to be two places I can get them near me, and they are prepared differently in the different places (hard boiled versus raw), but why quail eggs? That book is all over the place, so I certainly wouldn't be surprised to find a recipe in there. Furthermore, rather than making a pun about it, since Moti explicitly asks for further subject matter, why not provide a recipe? After all, it certainly would be within the scope of that book, and I wouldn't worry about egging him on.
Recipe ... in book fashion (I don't have it but I've been following what has been written so far.)
Get quail eggs
Break open
cook
eat
season for flavor
Not the recipe for the quail egg shooters at a local sushi place. In that case, you can pretty much remove the cook part.
However, I do like the fact that you put 'season for flavor' after 'eat'. That would be quite in the style.
I knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself.:)Quote:
I wouldn't worry about egging him on.
As for why quail eggs, I guess hen's eggs just didn't seem random enough. I could have gone for banana fritters, I suppose, but the Chinese take away's closed.
p.s. Reading it right now. Randomness increasing.
Yep, that'll do it.Quote:
switching user accounts: start, log off
In Windows 7, there's no "start button". :(
You're right - before "start" he should add "switch theme to Windows Classic".
This is very useful.
I have started making my own propane. I hope the land-lord doesn't notice that missing roof. As long as it doesn't rain or snow, I should be fine.Quote:

well add yoram yuvell to the BIG list of ignore
didn't answer emails
doesn't answer phones
How big is the list of ignore exactly? How big will it have to get for you to stop annoying people?
If "everyone else" is a problem, maybe the problem isn't anyone else.
I thought I'd found quite a sensible passage until...
Wait... What?... Oven Gloves? OVEN GLOVES? We're talking temeratures of 1500 degrees Centigrade and your suggesting... OVEN GLOVES?! REALLY?!Quote:
A METAL MELTING FURNACE
1 line (metal drum) with a layer of 7 cm refractory concrete (you can place this in a hole in the ground
2 the drum will have an opening at its top and a smaller opening in the side(to be pumped with
air(from a fan))
3 place the metal and the coal in the drum (if you use propane its to be pumped in from another hole
(in which case The torch hole should fit exactly))
4 the user can observe the melting from the top hole but must wear a face shield, the brighter the
hoter the metal,
light yellow = 1500 C / 2730 F
5 the metal will be placed in a mold before melting
Max. temperature (inside the crucible): 1300 deg C (=2500 F) within 15 mins = 300 grams copper.
warnings
Dark welding goggles when temps above 1300 C are used.
Oven gloves.
Wow. Just... Wow.
Yet you didn't see a problem with "the metal will be placed in a mold before melting"
You're being converted! IT'S A TRAP!
Seemed reasonable to me and much safer than pouring it while molten. Of course, you'd have to shove it pretty hard to get it in while solid but let's not let minor details like that get in the way.
A very good point. In fact, if we just shipped it still in the mold, even the customers will get the products they want in a nice safe package.
Who the heck is Yoram Yuvell? Did that name come up before?
With apologies to Family Guy and the Mikado.
He's got them on a list.
He's got them on a list.
And they never will be missed.
No they never will be missed.
Those folks ignoring Moti
When he sends them plaintive mail
He's got them on a list
Yes, he's got them on a list
Those blokes who never do return his calls
And hope to see him fail
They never will be missed
No, I'm sure they'd not be missed.
There's the people running down the book
Who haven't had a look
And others who deride AI
while thinking he is high
There are people who suspect he's mad
While making comments bad
They never would be missed.
No, they never would be missed.
So he's put them on the list
Yes, he's got them on the list.
And so on.
Yoram Yuvell is ph something from haifa university who missed the chance to test the program
Can any of us on VBForums have the honour of testing the program?
this is something to be done with me physically present
