i noticed that the homepage for the vbf extension on noteme.com says the extension works in Camino. is this a typo?

Erm.. I don't think it is.
If you take a look at the page for it you will see that it has only been tested in Fx 0.7-1.5, which are rather old.
It worked fine in Fx 2.x too (I think by changing the MaxVersion in one of the files), but Fx 3 requires extra things, such as a secure server for updates, so it is unlikely that it will be working - unless there is somebody who has a secure server available, and somebody who is willing to do the other work needed.
