Howdy all,
Just wondering how much you all would pay for the equivalent of a Litre of petrol in your countries? We pay (in my state anyway) $1.50 per litre. This end up being around $50 to fill up a family car!

$1.30 per ltire $AU
my 50 litre tank = $65 AU
which is around $46 US dollar
it's getting crazy, lucky i work from home now and drive alot less, i used to do more than a tank a week
I don't know about litres, but PER GALLON prices ranged from $2.97 to $3.29 for regular unleaded, adding about $.20 for premium.
good grief, not another one...
Look, the British pay the most, the Europeans pay more than you and the Australians are on your level (more or less).
OK? You've enjoyed almost free petrol prices for 2 decades whilst we had to pay through the nose for it. So don't expect much sympathy for your "plight".
Wow. No need to get hostile. Was just a question..
chem
About $2 per litre in Norway. But our prizes has been the same the last year though. Here in switzerland it is about $1.45. But the dollar is INCREDIBLE weak these days though. I am soon buying a house over there so I can sell it in 5 years...:D..would make me rich..:)

if it is 3, then it is 0.792516153 dollars for a litreQuote:

Far out. I always assumed Aus and UK had around the same prices (I mean, in different currency, but same value).
Strange.
chem
No, the UK is one of the highest prices. Mostly due to the tax on it which is around 70% of the final price. Hence why there is to be protests tomorrow
Hey. I flat out agree with you on that and am tired of hearing gas price complaints. But a question I have never seen asked is, what kind of gas mileage do you guys get over there on average compared to us? I know generally you seem to have more smaller car manufacturers over there. But I could be wrong.Quote:

Well over here you do see larger and larger cars each day. Strange, engines get more efficient and what do people do? They buy bigger engines.
It is really differnet though from south and north europe. At least in my experience. In France for example there is a lot of those small cars we call wife cars in Norway. They are not very suitable in Norway except if you drive in the city. And most people in Norway doesn't do that all year. So they need something bigger that can take them up to the mountain. So in general in Norway (average) a family has one "big" and one small car.

My Peugeot 205 did 38 mpg
before I totalled it
If I had the money, I'd buy a hybrid...I just wish they didnt make them so ugly. What is the logic behind that? To keep people from buying them and claim there is no demand for them so they won't mass produce to bring costs down?
Past 2 weeks though my gas costs is way down now that I am car pooling to work.
According to this:
http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lis...bal_gasprices/
At the time of this article, The Netherlands and Norway pay the most.
But Look at venezuela!
Must be nice!
Can anybody find a similar list, that also includes the tax rates as part of the PPG?
The only reason we pay the most, is because of our taxes. We make the god daemn oil we should have the lowest prices..:D..but who cares...I don't even have a drivers license...:)
- ØØ -
We pay 1.5 Euros / liter here in portugal.
about 30mpg which is average in Europe, although I have a sports coupe so the mpg is more like 20-25
You've all got big cars because you don't have to worry about expensive fuel. Perhaps if the US government taxed the fuel at 70% this may change
Sorry your taxes are so high, it makes you bitter.
They have all big cars because they are all FFFFAA*** did I say something...don't think so...it must have been Canders rudeness that effected me...
- ØØ -
Honestly, I remember the days before 9/11/01... when gas was about 79 cents per gallon in my state... amazing... it's now like $3.09 i believe...
It was the same prize in Norway back then..:) Don't change anything that works... ..:D:D:D

1000 years ago it would have cost you a lot more to procure 30 litres of Unleaded than it does now, so stop whining about it.
Does the UK not own any North Sea oil any more?
The Vikings took it from them...
Isn't it gas from the North sea?
very little is produced there
i forsee a nightmarish, post-holocaust-type future where petrol (gas) is the most valuable substance on earth, and gangs of lawless cyber-punks roam the land stealing and raping at will in their heavily modified dune-buggies - possibly with spiky bullbars on the front.
i see justice decided in a caged arena (a 'thunderdome' if you will) where 2 men enter and one man leaves.
Looks like you have some...so I guess we have more to snitch:

I wonder why there are fears of shortages, the map shows we have our own oil regardless of Katrina damage?
yeah it might be more expensive for some of you guys, ie the guys in the UK, but you guys don't need to commute with a car as much as a US person does...... I "have to" drive about 40-60 miles every day. You guys probably have good public transportation, or if not, don't have to commute so far ? :(
Why just two? Why not have the entire police force enter, and one man leave?Quote:

My monthly salary increased $0 USD over the last month. Considering I only spend around $400 USD on food per month, That is half of my monthly food intake gone to fill some arsehead in Saudi Arabia who wants to blow me up's, belly. I also have a Diesel Truck. Gets good mileage Compare dot unleaded motors in the same body style. It's a huge beast and Diesel fuel was always $.40 a gallon cheaper. Now the US oil companies are swapping all of their Diesel fuel with European Oil comanies for unleaded. The reason, European autos have a high percentage of diesel motors. The result, Diesel is now $.20 per gallon more than unleaded and I have to ride my motorcycle 6 hours in the seattle rain every freaking day, to give cheaper diesel to some arsehead in europe who hates me. It's freaking grand to be an American, ain't it.Quote:

Try pulling a 25'ft trailer over a frozen mountain with a honda hybrid. I was getting 15 - 20 mpg with a straight 6 Cummings Diesel(not towing mpg) and could tow 20 of your sports coups with it. It's all about the tuning of the motor not the size/type of the car. Ligh sprots cars that get their HP in the high RPM ranges will get the same crappy mpg as a 500 lb Tourque towing truck or SUV.
Cander, the new Honda hybrid Civic looks pretty cool, I had one for a little while, they are gutless but handle ok if you just use it for commuting. The thing always freaked me out at stop lights. There's a half second delay between pressing the gas pedal and the motor actually kicking from all electric to gas. Takes some getting used to.
The Accord Hybrid is sweet and packs some nice HP, but Honda is really, really proud of it. Very spendy for a v6 economy car

lol..too funny. Mad Max references and then MasterBlaster posts...yar!
Yeah, I'm going to make a hybrid dune buggy so I can run people over getting 300 mpg!Quote:

Ride your bikes you lazy good for nothing couch potatoes.
:ehh:
60 mile round trip. Yeah right.
This also doesn't include client visits in London which is a 320 round trip...don't think even you could cycle that
I often take a bike trip to london during the weekends. *true*
British pay the most? Xcuse me? The dutch at the moment still pay the most ranging up to about $6-8 per gallon (That's including local gas station discounts)
Yes I was talking to a dutch taxi driver. He was saying they also pay more road tax depending on car size. He said everything has gone up in price since the euro aswell, what was 3 guilders is now 3 euro.
That's what the people say and people are idiots.Quote:

Was he telling the truth about the paying more per vehicle size?
Hope nobody from Congress gets hold of that info. Now, they charge by number of axles. Trucks pay more. Plus, if you don't have an electronic transponder to pay the tolls, they charge DOUBLE! They enacted that law a few months ago.
I've had one for a few years, but a lot of people don't have one, as it requires a credit card (or least it did) You have to slow down to 15mph, but a lot of booths have a stop sign! I know someone that got busted for running one, after he had been drinking! He didn't even notice it!
Needless to say, he won't be missing it ever again.
yup, and to me it makes sence since they put a greater strain on the roadnet and the environment.Quote:

That's unimpressive. I would have thought you'd have higher gas mileage than that. My subaru gets 30mpg (highway driving, but there's not much else out here). My old Honda got 40. I thought you folks would have better mileage than that.Quote:

Frankly, I sometimes am a net producer of gas ;)

I get 12~14 miles per gallon in my car. Even less when I have a "lead foot". :(
I wasn't trying to impress you, besides the figure I gave you is urban driving. If you wanted to compare mpg for highway driving then it would be around 45mpg. Impressive enough for you?Quote:

Top speed of around 80mph. I could SEE the gas gauge move down while I was on the highway! The BEST I ever got was 6mpg per tank.
It was fun, though.
Yeah, that's better. I am fairly disgusted with our move to SUVs in this country. I was hoping the decline in real efficiency was limitted to this country.Quote:

What infuriates me over here is when Mothers insist they need these big 4x4s (SUVs) for the morning run to school. Good god! Is this school in the middle of a mud field? Or perhaps their child is so huge they cannot fit into a normal car?
I've always noticed that no mater where you go fuel has a price. Damn annoying that.
