Re: Reputations and rating posts
You know you're really bored when you start reading the forum test area

Re: Reputations and rating posts
you know you're really bored when you write something as long as that!
In case your wondering it was for my sig :)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Penagate, I hope you wont mind if I'll borrow your post#1 in my sig also. :)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Sure. :)
I also wrote one on using vB codes:
http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=349477
and resolving threads:
http://www.vbforums.com/showpost.php?p=2086551
Just thought some of it was missing from the FAQ ;)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
You are offering me all of that? Hmmmnnnn... Can I just borrow your signature then. :D
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
:D
If you think of anything more or that needs to be changed...
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Perhaps you should tackle about giving negative reputations also. :)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Hmm :)

What else should I add. Seeing as the link is to my post most people won't see the rest of the thread, so if there is anything you feel I should add to those two sentences (based on recent experience maybe? ;)) then I will edit it.

Re: Reputations and rating posts
"Disagreeing doesnt necessarily means disapproving, it would be nicer if one would just reply (or perhaps PM) to someone's post for the poster's guidance. Giving negative (or positive) reputation should be done with a just and 'reasonable' reason."
Something like that?
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I added a couple of sentences to "How do I give reputation" and also a section "I got a negative rep, why" further down.
:)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Nice one there Penagate. :)

Re: Reputations and rating posts
You're right it is a bit open to interpretation. I changed it :)
I'm not actually sure of how to define a situation where you would give a negative rep. I have only done it twice and the last one was because a lot of people (including me) spent time helping the poster and then he basically said we were all wrong and not to waste his time, which rather angered me. And I have only received one negative one which was one of the first reps I received and I have no idea who gave it to me or why.

Hmmnnn... I think I also posted in that thread you are talking about...
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
you did.
http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=337852
But I left a detailed note in the comment field and also my name. That reminds me, do you think I should add a sentence or two about retaliatory negative reps?

Re: Reputations and rating posts
Very nice FAQ penegate. :thumb: ;)
Could you make the sub-subjects in black bold so they stand out more?
Also, the Power calculation is missing the 1 point every member gets by default.
Power explained a little more and maybe you could add an example calculation so they can understand more?
Mine:
1 - Default.
4 - four complete years on the forums.
3 - 3 multiples of 4,000 posts.
0 - less then 1,000 rep points.
My Power = 8 currently, but coming up on 9 with only 800 more posts to get another multiple of 4,000 posts. :D
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Oh, ya. Your also missing the "Disabled" rep Gem indicator. ;)

Yeah they were a bit faint. I made them a darker grey. Navy is your colour, grey is mine ;)

I added the calculation, is there any more explanation I should add?

If you want I can make a cleaner picture with a red arrow and stuff?
Ps, I added this thread as a link in my sig. :thumb:
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I updated my post #19 to show the Gem levels a little more nicely ;)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
The image would be good thanks :)
I'm writing in a list of the different levels at the moment. I keep getting the "You have included too many images" error
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Yes, thats why I had to make the 5 Gems + images using PhotoShop because you can only have something
like 20 IMG tages in a post. I can attach more images for 2 Gems - 4 Gems to help reduce the # of IMG tags?
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Don't worry, I did the 2 and 3 and 4 is two 2's (Figure that out )... Also I took out some smileys.
Also we are missing one rep level. Go look at the codeguru member list
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/member...ion&pp=30<r=
cilu has 5 green + 5 light green rep gems.
Plus I read somewhere there was a level "User has a reputation beyond repute"...

Re: Reputations and rating posts
Thanks, that will reduce # of tags by one :)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Added the 10 Gem level. ;)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Do you reckon it is 1500 reps? That seems to be the number on other vB forums.
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Possibly but we can just update the thread when cilu hit it and updates the FF thread with the actual number?
I updated my post with all the Gem levels and post counts and have no issues with img tags. You should be well under it according to my count.
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Updated. I had to remove the :) smiley at the end of the post to fit in 20 images. maybe I shouldn't have had 3 of the single gem...
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Just use each of the images I made for the gems so you dont have to use multiple IMG tags to replicate it. ;)
I also updated post #19 with the next level - 1100 - 1299 because cilu updated the CG thread stating it was 1300 posts.
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I noticed that you took out the disabled Gem and placed it in the listing. Wouldnt it be best to keep it back where it was? This way you dont have to show the red gem in the gem count for symmentry
-

Oh yeah I saw that too but forgot. Thanks :)
I didn't replicate any of the images, I meant the 3 different tags that all have 1 gem.
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
What if it just showed the different gem levels instead of the tooltip levels? Then you could wipe out the first 2?
Also, cilu told me that their is different tooltip levels between 500-749 I believe, where the tooltip changes but not the gem count.
-

For symmetry I moved it to the top of the list :)
I put it there because it fits as an explanation of what you see below the users post count. To the extent of my knowledge you can't receive a black rep turning up in your User CP which was the subject of the original subtopic I had it in.

Crap, that makes life difficult. maybe I will make it just point count levels.
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Done. I got to reinstate the :) at the bottom :D
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Its looking good :thumb:
I like the way you moved the postcounts into parenthesis after the gems. ;)
I see what you meant about the gems in the CP now. ;)
Not sure what else there may be missing but I think we covered it all?
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I think that's about it. If we or anyone else think of anything then it can be added at any time (Also fixing typos... :p)
BTW I think Yoda needs some bling-bling :D
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
 :) Maybe one of those Mercades Benz hood ornaments for my gold rope chain necklace. :p
Well I think you also need a 1st place trophy for this too. ;)
How about a Co-Author position or something? :D
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I was feeling generous. so I added a contributions section at the bottom ;)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
 Let me break out my reading glasses. ;)
Thanks, for the props :thumb:
Ps, Now I wont have ta cap ya. :) Jk.
Did you see I did mine in green in my sig.?
Green = positive Gems or $$$
Too bad this isnt in a regular forum or it could be Rep'able.

Hmm, I do post in the rep'able forums also... ;)
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
I meant that other members will be viewing this and since its in Testing Forum they will have to go to that trouble to
give any possible Reps. ;) Perhaps I can get it moved to a more appropriate Forum.
Hmm, This sounds like a job for Gangsta Yoda™ :D (I think I need my own smilie).

Re: Reputations and rating posts
I got this information from Martin on EVERY tooltip level and description. :)
We probably would want to add this after the Gem levels as another section. ;)

-010 = [User] has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Re: Reputations and rating posts
Thanks. I added the different tags and the levels at which they are attained. Left out the ones where only the number changes, but I linked to your post (#50) so that the full list is accessible :)
Gangsta Yoda is looking good :D The grey hair on mine was meant to be a cap, but anyway. Your shades look more hardcore than mine :p
-
Re: Reputations and rating posts
Cool! :thumb:'s This Rep FAQ is really coming out very well :thumb:
I modified the original yoda and raised his ears and redrew his grin. The shades were a bit harder to draw (being the graphic artist that I am ;)),
I like the way it came out. Even placed it in my signature. :D
