I have a CD burner that is also a 32x C-ROM drive, and a 6x DVD drive. Which is faster? Are CD and DVD speed measurements the same thing?

Uhh...considering they access different CD formats, its kinda irrelevant which one is faster...

no, your DVD drive does not read CDs at 6x. it reads faster...but i can't be sure of the exact speed..maybe 24 or 32..
CD and DVD speed ratings are not the same. A 2x DVD maybe is as fast as a 24x CD.
Reading CDs from your CD burner will wear out your CD-burning thing quickly.
Dude, reading and burning are not the same thing...
No but I hear thats what happens.
Well, if you really need to know, a 32x cdrom drive has a theoretical transfer rate of 32x150kb/s, or 4800kb/s. To find the DVD transfer rate just multiply the base, minimum DVD speed by 6. And compare.
That is, as far as I know.

My 10x DVD-ROM drive reads at 32x speed for CDs. :cool:Quote:

I was assuming they were both reading CDs...Quote:
