Simple game...

Does anyone have an idea for a simple game that will help me learn bitblt better? I tried the tutorials on Fox's website, but I just couldn't make a game out of it. I was thinking about making a tile based game with cars and a city or somthing... kinda like Grand Theft Auto, but i don't know where to begin and how to do it with bitblt.
