Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
You CANNOT trust this site to maintain any subsequent edits that you make to your posts. They will disappear.
Twice in the last few days I have looked at a heavily-edited post and found it to be devoid of ALL my recent changes.
When you edit a post, ClodFlare (sic) is interpreting that behaviour to be the sort of thing a bot poster might do for spamming reasons - and thus is reversing the changes to the original text. When you look at the edited post it all appears well and good but when you return to the post an hour or so later all the edits will be lost.
I suggest that all users do not edit their posts one or two times to add supplementary information as I typically do but instead make new posts and addendum.
Furthermore you cannot correct faulty or incorrect posts as ClodFlare may revert them to their faulty state.
One of the side effects of the bots is a damaged forum.
PS. From now on I will make a copy of my posts locally for reference purposes.

I don't have and issue but let's check it.
Edit5
Nop, no issue. Although I only got clouflare appear once. After that I never seen it request on any of the posts. Probably as this is a static IP? But I don't recollect also seen it at home that it's DHCP.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
I tend to make successive edits adding URLs and/or images as required plus text.
It happened two days ago and it happened today.

Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
hmmmmm.... I did the Reply with Quotes and posted.... I did an Edit and added all of the XXX's. All seems well to me..
Be sure and don't hit the "Restore Auto-Save Content" that can and will show up in posts that you escape out of.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
Definitely not done that. Just my usual posts.
I sometimes do several edits.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
What I did notice is that when I was saving my edits, the "edited by user on xxxx: reason: " was not displayed. Normally, if I make a subsequent edit then it states that I have edited the text.
All looks good, my updated text is present on the page. I return and it is gone. That is exactly how I would expect a suspicious Clodflare to operate. I have had similar occur on Joomla websites fronted by clodFlare. Edits could not always be trusted.

Show edited by note on edited messages? -> yes/no (this is a per Member Status setting)
Anytime ONE member out of thousands has an issue - odds are extremely good it isn't the site that has issues.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
Well, it always shows if I have edited the post.
The issue has only started since Clodflare, when it happens again I'll post it here. Until then take care with edits.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
And be careful with the BACK Button. It'll take you back and show you your post BEFORE the edited version.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
I will take care not to abuse the back button but no, I was revisiting the post after some hours via the 'new posts' link and then drilled down to the relevant post to see who had updated - only then noticing that my previous edits had gone. First time put it down to a mistake on my part, second time, now more suspicious when a whole series of edits disappeared from another post.
I am just going to keep my eye out and see if I can replicate.

This may not be a case of one user, but a case of one particular user who is doing a particular spammy thing. Here's the thing that you might be able to test (especially Uncle Ber): Editing text may not be an issue, while adding in a picture may be an issue and adding in a URL is very LIKELY to be an issue. After all, one common spam practice is to make an innocent post, then go back in and add a URL. So, it may not be all edits, just a certain type of edit.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
wish there was a better way to do it than clodflar. How about we go classic with a CAPTCHA... Yeah didn't a bot tell that cursed letters better than me, also can we get an API? In order to make a custom client to here :afrog:
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
We went back to CAPTCHA a few months ago. (against my wishes)
We did have five simple security questions during registration. The problem was that the questions/answers needed to be changed from time to time and it was a manual job.

Try making a pool of questions. like 255 of them, just slave an LLM for generating them. Then randomly choose one. 5 is enough for ALOT of randomness.
Re: Since Clodflare (sic) VBForums is DEFINITELY LOSING EDITS
Hasn't occurred again since I stopped acting like a bot.
