IDE Problems

Win XP Pro SP6
All updates
I do have some Add-Ins active.
Tried deselecting and no joy !
Add-Ins all seem to work as expected.

(1)Sometimes have to close IDE and reopen Project in IDE to get it to stop reporting an ERROR on non-error.
Restarting IDE and running discloses the real error ?
Any FIX ?

Reloading Project does not FIX !

(3) Project Pane - Right-click items disappear.

(4) IDE toolbars want to relocate whenever I start the IDE
FIX ?

(5) IDE Menu items disappear.
Must do Reset on menus to get menu items back.
right-click menu area /customize/ toolbars left-click / Reset
FIX ?

Windows XP?
The last time I tried to use Windows XP in a machine, that was like 2 years ago, half of the web sites didn't work. Only a few worked with FireFox. Chrome would not even run.

So it is hard to me to understand how someone can be developing programs on Windows XP in 2024.

Perhaps someone will take pity on me and help with the aforementioned problems

I also have VB6 setup on another laptop running Window 7 Pro
However on a different laptop, VB6 WILL NOT INSTALL on Windows 7 Pro !!! I gave up on that !

Other than the problems already mentioned, Win XP Pro is much easier to use doing VB6 work. Faster etc.

My Win XP Pro laptops, yes plural, has my Snippet app and all my snippets that allow me to build an app very rapidly.
I wrote the snippet add-in.

Now and then I spend the time copying my snippets to the Win 7 Pro laptops to make use of them there with that same add-in.

And I have every thing I need installed on the Win XP Pro laptop. A whole bunch of support stuff.
I dread the time it would take to install all the support on a Windows 7 Pro laptop that might not even work !

Plus, I still need to support Win XP PCs,
I can compile on my Win XP Pro laptop and have a ready to install app.
I use InnoSetup with a vb6 app in the IDE Add-Ins that does all the setup work for me.
This runs on Windows 7 Pro also but I get a 64 bit version that does not run on Windows 7 etc.

BTW there are browser that run on Win XP well enough to do research.
VBForums runs just fine on Win XP browser I use. etc etc etc.

So knock Win XP if you wish, but I still think it is the best OS M$ made !

Too many dodads on Vista and beyond for my liking.

I don't wish to knock it, I would like it to work.

A couple of years ago my current computer broke, and I was forced to use an old computer with Windows XP (the hardware is too old for anything newer), and I couldn't do lot of things, like opening my emails, or going to many sites.

I agree that it was a good OS, I would like it to still work. But without internet, I can do very little.

About your problem:

Uninstall VB6, reinstall it, install SP6.
If the issue is not resolved, then reinstall Windows XP, and reinstall VB6 and SP6.

That's the normal way to handle these issues.

Are the basic references automatically checked when you create a new project?
