I figured I'd ask you all a few questions before I build a custom computer!
FIrst of all ,does the A7M266 (Asus) support a 1.4 Ghz T-Bird? Any experience with this board, or any Asus board?
What about the new Palomino processor, maybe I should wait for that? Or will it be a while until I can get a good chipset for it? Or can I use it in an A7M266?
I will need this computer fairly soon (a few months at the most)
Asus is a good board. it is really easy to use and setup. supporting 1.4 gig? you would have to read the box as all boards are different.
I would wait on any new chip as it will need a chipset to be any good.
Is Palomino a new CORE (like Thunderbird) or a new PROCESSOR?Quote:

So you are saying if I am going to need this within the next few months I should just take the dive into an Athlon T-Bird now?

I don't know any specifics on the palomino but when it does come out I am sure it will cost a lot and athlons & T-Birds are coming down in price and are really good chips.
If you are getting an AMD processor, make sure to go the extra mile and purchase DDRAM. It's double-data rate, making the RAM process faster. And also make sure to get sufficient video cooling (like a blue orb or something) if you plan on using it for lots of gaming.

1ghz+ means anything over 1ghz is also supported, right? am I missing something?
no, usually they will say if it goes up to 1.4 gig. if it says 1 gig then it stops there.
the A7A266 migth support it, if they have the + after the the supported gigHz then it might go. on the one you are pertaining to it might go as far as 1.2gig.
the only way to find out is look at the manual for the board or ask their technical support if it does.
