Anyone have problems with Windows 2000 drivers for Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Printer/
Again not a VB specific problem but another Windows 2000 related hardware problem!
I've downloaded the offical drivers for the HP 635 (all 26 Megabytes of them) and the device now will not scan, fax, copy or print in colour (B&W is fine still). If I put the Windows 98 hard disk back in then all and boot under W98 is fine and the OfficeJet is its normal plucky self so I'm guessing its another Windows 2000 driver problem. Before you ask - yes I've got ECP enabled and I'm using HP bidirectional cables so that is not the problem ;)
Anyway I can't get an intelligent response from HP - lots of pictures of the OfficeJet team sunning themselves in front of their Offices came with the 26 MB driver so we can track down the culprits anyway ;)
I am an Hewlett Packard Officejet Technician.
The Officejet 635 or rather 600 series was originally designed for Windows 3.1, 95 and 98. It was never origionally intended for a Windows NT based operating system. However HP did later develope a Windows NT 4.0 driver and later a Windows 2000 driver. There are conditions that has to be followed inorder to acheived 100% functionality of the HPOJ software:
You must be signed in as Administrator, not a user name with Administrator capabilities, Parallel port must be set to ECP with a DMA channel active, Have no other non-system process running in the background during the software's installation, (including the Virus scanner), Dot4.sys should be version v.5.0.2195.2097 or higher. the operating system must be updater to sevice pack 1 or better, In Device Manager, the LPT1 port setting Has to be set for, "Legacy Device" enabled and "Use any Interrupt request" must be set, must ensure that the "PNP" is enabled in the BIOS, and since Windows 2000's registry is a little on the buggy side. Sometimes even under an Administrator account, the Registry's permissions must be set to" Everyone" manually...
