Beta 2 and speed
Can someone tell me how fast beta 2 is compaired with beta 1.
.Net sounds suspiciously like java i.e. virtual machine and all that, and my only memory of developing java (about 18 months ago) was it was painfully slow environment and the resulting apps felt very sluggish, no matter how genius your code was or what jit compiler you were using.
cheers

Nothing suspicious about it. It is the same idea as JAVA, but it is more stable and faster than JAVA from my experience. And beta 2 seems fastef to me than beta 1 was.
-
It's much faster thank God !!!!
That really p!ssed me off with Beta1, the second version runs about the same as officeXP if you've tried that.
It's similar to the Java idea, but like above, .Net's gonna be more secure, stable and faster and apparently can still run on any platform (since MS make it, this bit I gotta see, apparently at the moment any platform means any version of windows :D but they plan to add support for all others like Unix & Linux).

I have the feeling that MS idea of multiple-OS support means that a Linux client will be able to connect to Web Services on a .Net server, which would be running Windows...
-
I got the impression that MS was going into either world domination, buying out all OS companies or obliterating them completely ! :D
Whichever, they would own all Operating Systems so this might be the platform independance they were on about ...
-
They already think they own all the OSes. They think that Linux is just a virus...

Well, in case some of you havent heard, Microsoft is officially no longer supporting JAVA in its operating systems.
I see this as not only a push for .NET, but also the start of the end of JAVA.
