I don't have one but I've got a few tips:
Go to Altavista, search pictures, search for a nebula or whatever ;).
Then go into paint or photoshop and add text into it, make it cool text and make it antialiased. Then basically you just add that to the back of your form, and back the form's width be the width (pixels) * Screen.TwipsPerPixelX, and the height be the height (pixels) * Screen.TwipsPerPixelY. Then you'll get a good splash screen.
Stick a timer onto the form, 5000 probably, and when the timer goes unload the form and show the main form. Make sure the startup position is centre screen.
You probably already knew this but I added it for clarity.
Sas,
You better not be poking fun at Sentiences splash screen there.
*puffs out chest in rightous indignation*
I'll have you know that Behemoth drew that nebula himself - pixel by pixel - and the splash screen is not on a timer, that's the amount of time it takes to load all the support files that Sentience needs.
So nuh!
mutter mutter mutter
Hey. Hey. HEY!
I was just refrencing his name... whoops, nucleus not nebula ;)
Yeah, not much difference between a Nucleus and Nebula eh....
Anyways, just kiddin ya. :)
I know Sentience kicks arse!
So, in response to Nucleus' question....
Make yer own yer lazy oik!!! :)
You could always use the form template within VB. Cheap, but effective...
Splash Screen
I attached the splash screen of my newest (secret) project...
You can probably get some idea about the design when looking at mine ;)
Wow..! What program(s) did you make that in?
- Corel Photo Paint 9.0
- (running on MS Windows 98 SE)
^_^
Is PP9 THAT much better than PP7PLUS? Because I've got the second, and am debating whether to upgrade or not.
I've got Corel Photo Paint 9, but I suck at using it :(
Thanks for the tips guys.
I am not lazy, I know that with graphics you either do it properly or forget it. So I came to see if anyone had it going on.Quote:

Nice splash Fox, and thanks for the infor Sastraxi.
I use PSP4 and PSP7. Both work forever and I haven't paid :)
Anyways...PSP4 is great for small graphics, resizing, saving and less than 16 million colors, while PSP7 can handle layering and special effects...Atleast in my hands, it's a nice combo. Though, I'm still learning PSP7. PSP4...I've used it since it came out five years ago.
(PSP = Paint Shop Pro)
Just carried my words in...
I still use PSP4 evaluation version for that kind of stuff too...
(you are on day 1056 of your 30 day trial.)
PhotoPaint 7 and 9 are different products because they have other effects and a little different handling. I got both installed, sometimes you can use PP7 betther than version 9... however, PhotoPaint is probably a little harder to learn than PhotoShop, but IMHO it's worth it ;) (I know most people prefer PS)
Know of any tutorials? tips? Anything?
I'm pretty good at PhotoShop(and Paint Shop Pro) but I'm horrible at photopaint :(
Hello, I came in this Forum by accident :p
Here's a crap splash screen which I did...
Hehehe, that is crap :p;) j/k
Here's a splash screen... well, not really a splash screen so much as a logo for my website... It took me about a 1/2 hour of fiddling with PP9 before I saw the effects menu :p

LOL, you can tell I'm no good at Graphics :p
Right, I'm not coming in this Forum again, I'm of no use here ;)
Look what I found: http://heritage.stsci.edu/public/gallery/galindex.html :D
Look at this one for my Tyrian-like game ;)
Awesome! Did you create that or did you just download a picture and put 'Please wait - loading' on it? (I'll go for the second option :p)
Nah, it's the third opinion: the image came with Tyrian, I just added the text :p
