Creating a game...
I have a game creator, cuz i wanted to see, what it was like to make a game. The maker sucked! Ne suggestions on a game maker for someone wanting to see what its like to make a game? I dont wanna have to code it, thats a pain. I just want a maker, tha may allow me to try it first!

Well why dont you just get the code from an open source game and look at that ?

If you want to create a professional quality game, you'll have to learn a 'real' programming language to code it(may I suggest c++, although vb with dx8 can do miracles aswell).
The best 'known' game maker is klik & play, you can get that from www.clickteam.com I think.
A game maker and a programming language are *mostly* totally different things so you'll probably won't get a chance to see what it is to make a 'real' game (with a game maker).

you might want to check out RPG Maker 2000. i've heard of it but i've never actually used it.
-
Tried The Games Factory recently (from ClickTeam), because I just wanted to create a small game fast, but it's very limited when it comes to the graphics, I've had a lot of palette problems.
Tried RPG Maker too once, but it wouldn't let me run any higher than 320x200...
My conclusion: make your own engine.

i agree with plenderj just get some free source of the net and create it by hand its much more fun and you actually learn stuff.

Start with a text-based game. Like a mud (or a sud). Ive made about half a dozen muds, including one web-based one. Fun stuff, but the fun part is only in creating it. Playing a mud isnt too fun unless you have tons of people there. If you want source, just email me. I'd be happy to send you my previous work. Can't send you my current project though- thats top secret :P

I'm working on a game creator, although it will probably look more like a programming language.

I found a Game Maker called 'Game Maker' (:p) at http://www.nonags.com/nonags/prog32.html. It looks pretty good, creates games without annoying 'Made with blabla' screens, just a small screen 'Loading game'... and it's freeware too...
I know I said 'make your own engine' before, but if a game maker works good and you just want to create a small game or something, it can be an answer...
