Re: Program Project Ideas
You didn't get hated on. You were told that SO was not the place to post that sort of thing, which it isn't. If noone had said anything then you'd be complaining about being ignored. How about accepting that you unknowingly did the wrong thing and people informed you of that so that you wouldn't make the same mistake again? If you're determined to play the victim when that happens then you'll never learn from the experience.
Anyway, it would be useful if you could explain what level of experience you have and what sort of tools you want to use. This is a VB site so I'm guessing that you want to use VB, but that still doesn't tell us whether that's VB6 or VB.NET. There's also no point our recommending something that is either far to simple or far too difficult for your level of experience. See, I'm not hating. I'm trying to help you formulate a better question so that you can get the help you want with as little wasted time for you and us as possible.

Assuming Visual Basic...I guess.
Re: Program Project Ideas
Forget about the average computer user. What would be useful in YOUR everyday life. Write that, instead.
If you try to write something that would be useful to the average computer user, then there are a thousand different versions of it already....or I could have just said: Create FaceBook. The point is that there are thousands of people trying to write something useful because they want to make money. If we had such an idea, would we just cast it away? Well....I might, but I've always been more into anti-social media, so my ideas might be funny, but wouldn't likely to be either useful or profitable.
Re: Program Project Ideas
I would also suggest that it's not necessarily the best idea to concentrate on the final result if you care about getting the most out of it for yourself as a developer. It's probably a better idea to consider what goes into creating it so that you can learn some new things. For instance, if you haven't used Async/Await before then this may be a good chance to learn how to. You might also consider what technology to use, e.g. create a WPF, UWP or ASP.NET Core app instead of sticking with Windows Forms just because that's what you know. If you're making this request because you're bored with what you've been doing then what goes in is probably more important than what comes out.

Then you should get over that. It was a bad question based on the purpose of SO and so it deserved to be down-voted. If you had asked a good question then you would almost certainly have got useful comments and/or answers and possibly up-votes. It's not all about you. You're not that important. None of us are. It's about what you do in what context. Noone there cared about you. They cared about the question you asked and whether it was appropriate for that context.

That was just an example, although we can't know what you do and don't have experience with if you don't tell us. I'm guessing that there are other areas within .NET that you don't have experience with.

Help! Somebody hijacked my bookmarks and I ended up at PythonForums!

That’s why I’m trying to find fun random projects so I can learn different aspects of the code and I apologize for being a dick about getting downvoted because not only does it ruin my reputation, but it makes me unable to post because of how many downvotes. If I was asked to take it down or change it then I would’ve, but instead everyone that downvoted began judging me based upon what I had written.
Re: Program Project Ideas
I still think you're reading too much into it but I must say that, in such situations, I tend to vote to close a question if it's inappropriate but I don't down-vote. It takes far more than that to get a down-vote from me but some people do it at the drop of a hat, even for brand new users. I think that that's a bit harsh.

Re: Program Project Ideas
Not sure a good idea but something that helps me to attach photo in Macbook Mail would be great. I want to send photo as an attachment but it keeps appear in body email, and the receivers on Outlooks cannot download it with the original size.
