OK fair enough mate :) Rant accepted ;)
So how did you lose everything?
I hate my computers!! One of the monitors just blew up, and it's happened before on the same machine. Does anyone think there is a common factor in there somwhere? (e.g. too much love juice from the PC to the monitor...)
Also, they're all temperamental.
I broke a 17" and a 15" in the space of a week :D So now I'm on a 14" :(:(
I remember trashing my partition table, and scandisk (DOS) said I had 2GB of lost clusters.......
Ahh, but how did you break them? Did they go bang and smell?! Both these did and on the same machine which makes me sus (e.g ARRRGGHH PIECE OF SH*T-type sus)Quote:

You're not going to believe this, but it looks like I lost everything to a bad network card!!!
My computer's been down all last week, and I've been replacing and swapping all kinds of hardware and nothing helped. Of course, I left the network card in during the whole mess.
Basically, my computer froze and I restarted it to find out that there was nothing at all on the hard drive!
I took the network card out and it looks like it's working okay now. I took out the hard drive and tried it in another pc, that worked..
How the hell...?Quote:

I was trying to install Linux but messed up...luckily the Norton Disk Editor managed to recreate it.
When i installed linux it went on easy....then I couldnt get into Xwindows, or whateva it is... :(
When you do that, what does the 2GB become??? Junk space?? :confused:Quote:

Nope. The FAT was intact (both copies), so by rewriting the partition table all became clear again :) I nearly had a heart attack after that one though.
