Please can we have a hardware forum? Please, please, please:p
I think it could be very popular, and usful, especially in low-level programming such as Assembly.:D

Please
If you havent noticed, this is a VB site not an assembly forum. They were nice enough to have one forum for assembly, and VB has almost nothing to do with the hardware. So i vote no.
Stop begging and humping John's leg Ric. I vote yes in support of my English brother in arm. Lets have a hardware forum.
Monkey Boy
Well we have a forum for C and for other basic dialects, why not include one for hardware issues.
Because this is a software site. And really, how many questions about software and hardware interaction is there really going to be? I think itll be filled with q's like..
How come my <insert hardware here> doesnt work?
Great for answers though..................
How come my <insert hardware device> doesn't work?
Have you turned it on.
Does it need batteries
Does it need a foot pump?
Does it throb violently
No that's me :D
Humping john's leg isn't that a bit excessive :p I mean come on we could work John to death and have him start a hardwae site with tutorials on buling cpus modems lan card etc this would be awsome we could have a true frankenputer:eek: ohh i'm being sarcastic I think a hardware forum would be cool (Some where I could actualy answer some questions)
The revenue this site generates (correct me if i am wrong) is pretty much just from the banner adds. So the more people using the site the more $$$ is being made, so i dont see the reason to not have a few more forums. www.overclockers.co.uk is a site about, you've guessed it, overclocking, but they have all sorts of forums there, like cars and stuff like that, and it works well.
if you have a hardware question, post it in the general section, i mean most people read it. for ex, I never look at the games/graffics forum, but i would be happy to answer a question like that in the general forum. for the few questions that would go there, i don't think its worth all the effort.
just my $0.02
If there's going to be a new forum it will probably be a Delphi forum before a Hardware forum.......wouldn't you think?
Delphi sucks.
I think hardware would get more users, I would be *very* happy to answer hardware questions :)
On occasion i find Delphi a good substitute for toilet paper.
but a hardware forum would be cool, this way i can talk about my
new silicon graphics workstation. :D
Well, I'm sure katie can teach you about 'turning on' :D.Quote:

It unanimous then. Lets take our case to John :D.
I'd back a HW forum, or even a "Computing Questions That don't Fall into any of the other categories and aren't really chit-chat" forum.
I already have, on ICQ :-) He said Definately Maybe...
Yay!:D
You know, ive been thinking, not so much a hardware forum, but a general computer forum would be good. For questions like, why does ie suddenly make all the text huge? Or, how do i turn my modem sound off? So im for a general computer forum.
I reckon a "Non-Programming Related Questions Forum" - sorta like General Computer, but any sort of programming should be put into its respective forum.
Yeah. Hardware, or general computing...
I think that there should be an electronics forum (not really about computer hardware)
EG:
Making and programming a stepper motor controller
Making and programming a little rocket or a plane
Questions about the chips, electornics components
:p
why make a stepper controler, buy one for $2.50 US
or if you want a fancy one, maybe $20. or you could build your own, i can send you the schematic if you really want to (i'm just guessing by your post)
Yes we need a hardware forum i would love to help people out there with their hardware problems, at least i will know what i am talking about for a change
I am not specifically talking about stepper motor but I had to do this project last year and I just found some answers in this forum so that is why I thought that there should be an electronics forum!
:o
