NOOOO!!! I got a virus!

I just was doing a routine virus check, and norton came up with this: Backdoor.Sadman.Dr. It says that my computer is infected with that...Does anyone know what that is? Norton was pretty vague on the description. Is it a trojan or something?

Backdoor is usually the same thing as trojan... They both use a "backdoor" or a "trojan horse" to get into your computer...

I've never heard of that particular one, but you should have Norton disinfect the file, or delete it.

i had to delete a few of my files. Somehow it infected some of my html pages...:mad:

Erm...how can it infect an HTML page? And even if it does, just open it in notepad and delete any suspicious code, since notepad won't (can't ;)) execute it.

are you sure you read that right?? the closest thing I could find on that was backdoor.sadmind (NAV) either it is a new virus or something triggered norton. McAfee has nothing on the one you suggested.

there are possibilities of a program or something triggering norton and it isn't a virus. I have read on a popular program (can't remember what program it was off the top of my head) that it will trigger virus scanners as a virus but actually it wasn't.

I'm with Parksie on this one, how can it infect an html page?

I was curious also as to how it infected my html pages. But, all is well once again in the land of my computer. I was going to format anyway, and so after i got the virus, i just figured enough was enough, and formatted. I am virus free now.:cool:
