What is fastest...
Can you tell me what is the fastest way to scan open ports on remote machine using Windows Sockets ?? i think you know Haktek prog. - its very very fast...with only one thread, i would like to do programm scanning ports with multithread architecture. Thanks.
-
http://grc.com has lots of resources.
I have no idea myself, just thought I'd post that :) Anyway, why do you want to write a port scanner?
-
thank for link. why ? because im interested in nets, tcp/ip etc...i would like to write a complex prog, with many net features...
-
Ah okay...as long as your object is educating yourself I have no problems with that :) Look up anything to do with Berkeley sockets.
-
'as long....i've no problems with that' ??? can you tell me what problems did you mean...i think my idea isn't bad...
-
The idea on its own is okay, but a port scanner is one of the most useful tools for breaking into a remote computer over TCP/IP.
And since that's illegal...
-
i hope you dont think iam one of those.....hmm....how are they called......Hackers!!! ???
-
*grrrrrr*
Crackers, m80 ;) And no, I don't :)
-
no i dont think those are called crackers, it is the another group of people (with another hobbies...)
-
I think parksie's right, crackers are people who deliberately break into system, whereas hackers are people who develop computer systems to solve problems, basically programmers - well, at least that's what I've been told
-
yes, in the past crackers were "the bad who break into peaceful companies servers" and hackers were "very clever people who know about comps more than whoever else". today, i think, the meaning of these two words is little different....
-
Well, I don't think the meaning has changed, in the computer industry, but to the media it has (or was it ever that crackers were called crackers?)
-
i agree, but i think you know ::: media->people........
-
So basically everyone who has no idea about computers, or programming, will call crackers "hackers" and hackers "programmers then.
-
It doesn't matter how often someone says "hacker is this...cracker is that..." the terms are pretty much interchangable in the real world. Outside of the computing ind., nobody uses the term cracker, they're both (wrongly) referred to as hackers.

Yeah, but we're programmers, not people
