Questions:
1) What is a good layout for a website? E.g please
2) What makes it a good website/homepage?
IMHO:
Clean, lightweight, lots of info. Good font, 2-3 colours only, no frames (tables only), easy navigation. And keep a comon template throughout. Sites don't get much better than www.bbc.co.uk
Then there is the other flash based stuff such as www.mook.co.uk, www.konspiracy.co.uk, but thats another dibble of fish...
I managed to get a good grasp of Dreamweaver 3 by following the tutorials in the manual....They are actually pretty good!
Personally I found the online tutorials at the macromedia site quite good though they were a bit on the basic side.. :(
I tried them too....They are OK for getting the foundations, but I learnt most of what I know about Dreamweaver by playing around :) And Dreamweaver 4 is waaaaaaaaay better! Especially Ultradev :)
Yep UltraDev 4 is very cool... I use that all the time (here at work and at home)... I prefer UltraDev and for those looking to learn that too then goto this thread :

Do you actually use Ultradev's built in features to write ASP etc? I did to start with, but I had a lot of problems getting the code to work, especially Connection Strings...now I mostly use it for the nice code formatting stuff..At least it encouraged me to learn ASP, anyway :)
What I do is make everything in UltraDev and then go through the code (if there isn't too much). I know a bit of ASP and I have a book on ASP with all the command strings etc in so I can work out if there are any problems. :)
Yeah....I haven't actually done much ready-made ASP since Ultradev 1 was on the go...I just kept on hand writing when UDev 4 came out.....The split view in 4 was divine insperation, though, wasn't it! :D
