Thanks for all the help with other questions - I'm beginning to feel I'm getting somewhere at last!
Can anyone give me a sample complex selection formula statement - I have to do a few ands and ors and I can't seem to get the syntax right for example I'm doing:
[Area Code] = 'GN' and (Principle = 'xxxx' or Principle = 'yyyy' or Principle = 'ZZZZ')
This is not working and I'm not sure what the syntax should be - can anyone help?

When using formulas in crystal reports it needs to be formatted in the following way: -
{tablename.fieldname} = <value>
the and/or/nots work just the same way as they would in your programming language, but it's the curly braces (as I love to call 'em) and the tablename and fieldname formatting that is the key here.
