I don't think our paths crossed back then but hello and welcome back.
Another ghost drifting back from the mists of time. Are you the ghost of VBF past, come to haunt us in this run up to the holidays with messages of our misspent youth? Will there be two others, heaping derision on our wicked ways until we see the light and offer some holiday cheer to woebegone moderators like DDay and Funky?
Im the ghost of the VBF future :bigyello:
Boo!
Isn't that like... a breakfast cereal?
"Post Ghosties"
I could go for some Boo Berry right now. :p
Don't think you could get much older.
According to one url metric site, "The domain is 15 years and 2 months old.", and apparently that may have been based on an update date of 30 April 2015.
By my math, that would seem that the earliest you could join the forum in the current domain would have been around Feb. 2000, so I assume the forum itself is older than the current domain address being used.
There was something about the Big Crash, which happened somewhere back in the early days before my time. People were still talking about it plenty when I joined, because some people had lost thousands off of meager post counts. Dillinger probably knows all about that...though memory may be fading.
Something about the wicked Witch of the West
You young 'uns are always putting us down. Just because we... wait, I forget.Quote:
Yeah, y'all are some old farts
MartinLiss is a month earlier, I wonder if anyone can beat that.Quote:
You do have one of the oldest join dates that I've seen.
Hi Dillenger, V-LTNS.
I first appeared under my current moniker on this forum in October 1999, if I remember correctly. Before that I had a short-lived prior account from April of that year. I think the forum was called vbworld and owned by jupitermedia or something. Then I was banned a couple of times and then there was the tapeworm salesman guy.
The snake thread?
Hello, and welcome back.
To those wondering about who beats the oldest join date... I guess this guy does, with the userid of 1.

I remember MartinLiss. I also remember Megatron, Bonker Gudd, Corned Bee, Guv, kedaman, parksie, mendhak and a bunch of others but I haven't seen any of them around yet except for Bonker Gudd.
Mendhak isnt lost is he? He is over the pond somewhere.Quote:
Well from what I've read, hack is searching for mendhack and parksie committed suicide. I would find the thread, but I'm on my phone.
Haven't seen Mega in a LOOOOONG time... Bonker is still around from time to time... we lost parksie a number of years ago, mendhak shows up from time to time. CB, Guv, keda... geeezes, there's some old names being dredged up... wonder if you mention them enough times, they'll show up.

When I joined back in 99 I was twenty six and I know parksie was a lot younger than me. I guess he was having a rough go of it but it's a shame he couldn't get through whatever was eating at him. As for the rest of the guys I can only surmise they picked up software engineering jobs unless they just left the field altogether like I had.
Parksie was before my time, although i remember the thread about him passing.
Although i joined a fairly long time ago, i had a kind of has a hiatus from the site for a number of years as my job and life changed quite a bit, then when i came back people started to disappear (I in no way started to stalk and kill off members randomly after the voices in my head told me to)
I was more of a lurker back then but i used to enjoy reading Mendhak's posts in particular (i can remember one in particular about his review of going to see Toy Story 3) and the random posts of Crtcpblade, Zaza,I_Love_My_Vans, Wossname and VisualAd's and others. The forum misses the craziness of those days a bit although Wossname and Visual Ad have been popping up now and again more recently
There have been different groups at different times over the years. I'm not sure one group was better than another, but they were all different....soooo very, very, different.
No argument there, and we all look back on the past with somewhat rose tinted spectacles, i just feel that some of the activity has died down a bit in Chit-Chat which got me thinking about some of those old users.Quote:

Yeah, it really has. I blame the mods.Quote:

Well as long as we have people to blame that's ok then :)Quote:

I did that in front of a mirror in Marks & Spencer's the other day but i just got very strange looksQuote:
Try standing in front of a mirror and saying their names three times.
There have to be easier ways to get Drunk !
I haven't been here in quite some time, funny that this thread was on top of the heap. Howdy all, long time no see. A lot of road between join date and today, wow.
Specifically POST RACE. There are probably 200 new pages.
Wow it's been a long time. I see familiar faces but the oldies seems not here.
Hope all is well. Cheers.
You're a moderator. Make it happen
My reply has a title of Woodwork. We are partway there.Quote:
There is a fine line between moderation and abuser. I walk that line every day with threads titled "HELP I IZ NOOB"
lets keep this going
Woodwork would work wood work in more ways than one.
Is MartinLiss not around any more?
He is living off the grid.
Woodwork. I like that. Makes me feel like a beetle or a termite. :)Quote:
This thread should be renamed woodworks.
