Other (Windows) profile loads when trying to load main profile

Hi,

I have two accounts on my desktop my main one with you my stuff on it and a Test account with nothing on it which I use for testing! The trouble I am having is when I try to login to the main account which is password protected it loads the other profile which does not have a password. I found this by Joaqium where he mentions Arax Disk Doctor Data Recovery v3.1.036 but I do not know if that is what I need? I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

I doubt you need a data recovery app...

What happens when you select the test account during the log in? Is the test account an Admin account that will let you copy files from the main profile? If not, the next link will help.

It turns out the correct account had been loaded but due to the "Profile Service" malfunctioning it appeared (looks wise) as the default account.

Edit:

The problem occurred after the 15/11/2014 which is when I installed iTunes. Although, I doubt that is responsible.

Edit II:

I ran System Restore and it appears my desktop is back to normal.

Damn! It happened again but this time System Restore did not solve the problem.

Profiles are known to get corrupted... I would create a new mail account and copy over files etc...

Are you referring to Windows profile which, is the one I am referring to or the Office/Outlook profile?

Added to the thread title to say that it is the "Windows" profile I am referring to.

Yes to Window User Profiles. (Since there hasn't been any talk about Office profiles.)

Sorry, I just become confused when you said "create a new mail account"! Why would I do this and which files do I need to copy?

WOW... Have no idea why I typed mail.... My bad..

Googling I came across You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message will try those solutions to see if they work or not.

Damn! Just enabled the root administrator account however, it is asking for a password and from what I have read it should not required a password. Do I need to reinstall? I have a back up my Windows installation if I need to reload it.

You can still create another Admin user profile without the main admin account...

Really can't help you hack the admin account on our open to the public site.

I was able to remove the password via the "Add/Remove user accounts" section in the Windows Control Panel! I might have accidentally put a password on the root account and forgot about it.

Are you not receiving any error messages? How do you know that it is in fact the other profile. Perhaps its just a temporary profile that looks like the testing profile?

If I go to the start menu, up the top right-hand side there is the account name which, still displays correctly. I also, occasionally receive that error mentioned in post #10. I will check if the methods method on that site in the morning.

Using the root account to delete and recreate the admin account that was having the problem resolved the issue.

Edit:

c windows system32 config systemprofile desktop refers to a location that is unavailable windows 7 gave me some useful information on how to deal with the problem.
