I have read and seen a lot about this but how many of you would make all your program open source???
Open source is good for some apps.
I am making all my apps (the ones that are worth calling apps) open source. But we can't make certain software open source - applications that deal with encryption, like e-Diary
So it has its limitations.
Security through obscurity is not security. Encryption programs benefit from being open-source because then all the people that really are genii can make your code better. PGP has the source available, but it's not open-source.Quote:

I would do the open-source thing, but not necessarily all the time. It's not really to do with the size of the project. From a business point of view, how do you make money out of writing open source software?

And Harry.. why not make source code available for a price
and let your application free?
Open source is okay for hobbyists and toy programs,
but the stuff that keeps food on my table and helps to
pay my way in society needs to stay mine :)
