You tell how many characters is in the text box, and how many characters is allowed, but what about how many characters you have left? I know...you could do the math, but what if your lazy (like me) and just can't subtract without a calculator? :rolleyes:
After:

How about a Progress bar that Shows the status(with regards to the maximum length) as we type in the Text Area box ?

I am not quite sure what you are on about here, but it does sound like quite a good idea :), i have just found what you are on about and i agree with Matthew here, it would be good if you could have a character remaining, and John what is the purpose of this little feature ?
So people with long blocks of code/text can check before they post...takes less resources on the server. :)Quote:

No use. People are smarter these days. They will split up the long messages into two or three posts, load the server even more and get a boost to their post counts.
I just saw a member posting some advice twice (in subsequent posts) about a problem, which he could have done in a single post. I don't know if it was intentional, but in any case that's a bad habbit.

So they posted twice, so what? Who cares? Maybe they'll get a post count of a million and feel really proud of themselves even though 90% of their posts were unnecessary. That's fine by me, I don't give a toss, and I don't see why anyone does. It's just a number, it's not a big deal :rolleyes:
