Microsoft getting a little greedy

Analysts report that Microsoft may begin to compel its larger customers to pay every three years to continue to use its software, a departure from its perpetual licensing policies currently in use. Under the new plan, companies would have to pay again at the end of each three-year enterprise agreement in order to renew their license. However, there are no reports that Microsoft is considering changing its smaller customers' open and select agreements.

Now thats just getting a little way too greedy

hehe, But microsoft are "clever" they know they will earn money, and they aint really gonna lose that many over it....but true WAY to greedy!

i'm sure there will be cracks out, before the 3year-limit software comes out

never, they stop supporting & making programs after 2 years, so can't see this going ahead (2000 & 2002, 98 & ME etc) :D

But since XP reports back to Microsoft using your Modem it is going to tell them "Pirate at Number ##, ### Street, Credit card number ##### #### #### ####, favorite download site ####, underware colour ### etc etc . . .":p

So the great Microsoft worry is people who don't upgrade - the licensing scheme should fix them though ;)

I'm betting it will move to annual licensing after the first three years - once companies have got used to the idea and recurring billing.:rolleyes:

What if you don't have a modem? Besides, if they take that information without your consent they are breaking the law, so they'd have to put it in the EULA. I for one don't want to give those kinds of details out to anyone, and least of all Microsoft.

Because by all accounts Excel xp will not boot if you ain't wearing undies.
