Internet connection route tracing!!!!!!

Hi fellow network programmers

Any of you have experience in tracing a TCP/IP connection?? If you don't understand, let me explain what I mean : It is possible to trace and track down all servers routers etc. etc. on a connection from your own computer to an other IP. The question is : HOW???

It is also in some way possible to look up the exact location of a server on the net (not all servers are supported). Anyone know how to do this??

You mean like "tracert" on Windows and "traceroute" on Unix?

Open up a command prompt and type:
tracert www.microsoft.com

But how do I use this in a VB program??
Of cource I can run the program from within my own VB program, but that is a VERY unprofessional way of doing it...

Can't I use the WinSock component to perform a route tracing command???

By the way...You know how NeoTrace can find the server position???
It says "RIPE WhoIs" under "Network:" but I have performed several RIPE queries without getting any server location information.

Of cource it can use the registrant information to locate the country and city... Is there any online servers (besides NeoWorks' own) that can get the longitude and latitude coordinates just you supply it with country and city name??? That could be the solution...

I don't know that - sorry! But I have a feeling it is NeoTrace's own server the location information is taken from...
