Finnish has gotta be the strangest european language. ;) It doesn't seem to resemble any other (not even russian). Where the heck are its origins? :eek:
i think we have the same roots as hungarians
I think that makes you the only non-indoeuropean language group in Europe. I had a collegue (a Mac user actually) who learned Finnish specifically to try to develop an alternative mind set and way of thinking:confused:Quote:

how many litre per gallon anyone?
and 1 pound is baout how much $?
here in NY gas is (for the cheap stuff 87 octane) $1.67 a Gallon!!! it will pass $2 in june
premium is alreat at 1.85
it sucks!
8 litres = 1 gallon I think
£1 = about $1.45
cheap gas = 1.91
premium = 2.05
in California......we still pay significantly less than Europe though per gallon. They really get taken to the cleaners!
cant be! that would put it in the $8 / gallon range!
i bet its closer to 2 litres...
I lied, it's 4.5 litres = 1 gallon
jeez, you're complaining about $1.67/gallon. I just worked we pay $4.79 a gallon!!!!!!!! That is a ****ing outrage
yeah! I just did the conversion too!! HOLY S**T!!! you are getting robbed!!
well...then I cant complain...
sorry
:rolleyes:
now is the cost of living up there??
like what is a typical 1 bedroom apt cost?
how about a Gallon of milk (or a 4.4451 litre :))
I paid 115,000.00 for my 2000 sq.ft house.....I saw ads for three bedroom apartments for that much in the London Times. They make a lot higher salaries but they pay megagazillions more for everything!!!
1 bed apart. really depends where you are. London is silly money ($50-100,000+) but elsewhere probably a more reasonable $40+
Unfortunately, milk is sold in pints. I'll have to find out how many litres a pint is
1pt = 568ml :) Says so on the bottle :p
2 pints = 1 gallon
Parksie, it's 30p a pint right? or something like that. I can;t remembet. I usually just pick things uop if i need them without bothering to look at the price.
for you maybe, British pint is different according to this thingQuote:

I happen to remember that 1 gallon is 4.546 litres, in case you're after some accuracy.
That's a UK GallonQuote:

A US Gallon is 3.785411784 litres
so 78p per litre = £2.96 per us gallon (0.78 *3.785411784)
£2.96 in US$ = 2.96 * 1.45 = 4.28
so 78 UK Pence per litre = $4.28 per US Gallon. Bargain!
The average UK Salary is approx £19000 per annum
which equals $27550 per annum (@$1.45/£)
I assume £19k is the mean? The average for people I come across certainly isn't that high, perhaps it's raised by the real high earners. The median must be a bit lower.
