New Year is nothing to do with the birth of Christ, that's Christmas. They're close together but they're not the same date.
Whether Christ was born on the 25th December is anothyer debate again. I'm not sure what that was talking about a Sun God for but it's widely accepted that we celebrate Christmas on the 25th December because that coincides with the Winter Solstice and/or the pagan festival of Saturnalia. Interestingly, neither of those actually fall on the 25th either and are actually in the week leading up to it. The date's slipped around a bit over the centuries for a variety of reasons, mostly to do with bad translations of historical texts during the dark ages.
I personally have no strong feeling about religion (Christianity, Islam or any other) but if you're going to attempt to court controversy and undermine someone else's religion it would seem to me to be sensible to make sure you're informed first.
because kids like gifts from Santa Claus
happy new year all!!!
