why you SHOULDN'T upgrade that app every time.
note to all smartphone users: don't leave automatic updates turned on. sometimes that great free app you love so much isn't fully functional any more after an update. Only update an app if it is buggy. Sometimes that update screws it up. My alarm app on my phone is nearly unusable and is unreliable now that it's been updated, and my wifi tethering app which was free was suddenly limited use unless i unlock it with a 7.00 purchase. There are other examples but keep this in mind: 1. sometimes updates introduce bugs and sometimes developers get greedy.
the netflix app is an issue of a different type. As of the latest update, it's now designed to work great on tablets and as such the user interface is pretty hard to navigate from a phone.
Re: why you SHOULDN'T upgrade that app every time.
This even happens with desktop software.
Sometimes it isn't that the developer gets greedy, but somebody buys his application and then tries to turn it into a money maker.

In Android you can roll back updates. I've never used the option but it's worth a try.

i will have to look into how to do that. I downloaded an older version from the internet and sideloaded it.

Shouldn't this be in general pc or general development since it has the promise of being useful?

You can do that on an iPhone too, assuming your computer has a copy of the older version.
If the copy is in iTunes, all you have to do is delete the app on your phone & synchronize it with iTunes.
On that note, it's probably a good idea to make sure you have a copy of all versions you download in a folder where they will not be deleted when you download a new version to your computer.

i checked. you can roll back OS updates in android, but NOT app updates.
