64-bit integer?

I would like to make a 64-bit integer in MS VC++ 6.0, but the following code does not work:


long long anyvariable;

Compile Error: error C2632: 'long' followed by 'long' is illegal

.......any ideas?

PS I have a book that says this feature is contributed by the C99 specification. Does VC++ not support this?

For VC++, use the __int64 type (2 underscores).
